Don't you feel sorry for yet another celebrity who's had photographs of her, or him, in a state of undress, posted on the web?
Or are you thinking like me, in that if you court publicity, and pose for naked pictures, then how can you be surprised or offended if these are published at a time which is not to your liking. I'm not talking about copyright here.
I'm not condoning spy camera film, in hotel bedrooms or during intimate moments, when the subject was unaware and presumed her/himself to be alone or with someone trusted; but if someone willingly poses for photo's or goes naked in a public place then surely they're fair game.
The same applies to pictures posted on websites. Now we might get miffed if these are getting into the hands of people for whom they weren't intended, and doubly miffed if they've gone public, but we can't claim to be naive enough to think it can't happen.
Of course it is possible that the celebs aren't really surprised or shocked at all, and it's just more news feed hype.
While on the subject, are there any particular celebs you would like to see naked?
I quite fancy Selma Blair today
Still theft though isn't it?
If they choose to keep things private they should remain private regardless of who they are.
Not sure you would be happy if someone hacked into your private photos and posted them over the internet.
Well stealing anything, from anyone, is theft, and not condoned in this quarter. There are other ways to acquire things, and not all of them would be ethical, and if something is worth money to people then someone out there is looking to steal it anyway.
Storing material in any form, on the internet, is akin to concealing it in your own desk at a public library. Private, but easily accessible.
If you allow yourself to be filmed or photographed then the copyright is with the person filming.
There are countless actors and actresses who wish they'd never posed for that shot, or worked in that strip joint, or took money for sex, but that's life.
I'm not pleased when they suffer embarrassment, I'm actually not sympathetic either in most cases, I'm just amazed that they keep asking "how could this happen?"
n.b. I'm done with Selma Blair now, can I have the Megan Fox pics today please? Yeah the one's shot from behind when she was on her hands and knees anticipating a slapped bum.
(no matter how old I get, the imagination stays youthful)
Just google "celebgate", for a peek into the scale of the problem. Most, of course, are American media personalities, and not well known to us. As a follower of American sports, and thereby regularly seeing American news snippets, I've seen these incidents intermittently over a number of years. It's not new of course, magazines and tabloids were publishing dubiously "acquired" pics years before the web was up and running.
The cynic in me says that whilst the celebs may be shocked and amazed that private photos have been leaked online - if they're upset why store them online anyway? - they are also privately happy that their profiles have been raised, both literally and metaphorically...
