What is your signature dish?

What do you cook to impress?

Just need some inspiration for cooking, thanks.

During lock down..I've taken to baking ( Mr Bad) Cakes and so on, I've been making my own bread for the last year (very easy to do)..I've not bought a shop loaf in about a year now.. gorgeous homemade wholemeal bread.

Yes, I used to bake my own bread but I'm now gluten free and gluten free flour just doesnt produce a decent bread. πŸ˜”

I don't know about cooking to impress, but I do a garlic and caper chicken which my kids like. It's pretty simple, mix a couple of cloves of garlic with a tablespoon of capers into a paste, then smoosh it under the skin of the chicken and roast as normal. It's not overly special, but a bit tastier than regular roast chicken.

In some Mexican dishes, they mix 2 parts cinnamon with 1 part cumin and use that as a base for a lot of meals - I have a little jar with that blend and sprinkle it over meat before cooking or add it to sauces. It adds a really nice touch to a ratatouille!

Hothousesub sounds great. I've done pork neck fillet with apricots and port today. Eating a bit late as we ended up in bed this afternoon and not for a nap πŸ˜‰

As MrP is working away I'm trying to cook meals for him to take with him, if I don't he will just eat crap!

That sounds nice - I can't really be bothered with cooking when it's hot so I usually just end up throwing stuff into a pan and see what comes out!

Try this one, fresh pasta, four minutes. Fine Sliced carrots, bell pepper, red onion and fry in olive oil four minutes. Add lots of green or red pesto, garlic, olives and a small amount of chilli. Drain and toss pasta into sauce. Serve. It’s fast, filling and tasty....bit like me reallyπŸ˜‰

Not sure fast is such a good selling point! 😜 As an ex LGV jockey, I'd start in crawler and work my way smoothly up the box

Today's creations home made garlic and herb potato wedges, roasted beetroot with horseradish and thyme, spiced rhubarb chutney and roasted duck breast.

Also made cottage pie and sausage casserole for freezing.

Nice!

My kids bought me a sausage-making machine for Mother's Day but I haven't had the chance to try it out yet so I'm currently making a shopping list for a sausage marathon this weekend! 😈

You sparked a memory. Such an easy make, yet I absolutely love it every time - roast baby beetroot, feta and walnuts , drizzled with walnut oil. Fabulous!

Is it just me or does anyone else think the idea of a sausage marathon sounds like a rather. Naughty euphemism 😳

Nope, can't see it.

I don't know what you mean.

My mind is far too innocent for euphemisms! πŸ˜‡

I so want to meet you, so funny!

My mind is buzzing after an afternoon cooking, it does mean that when Mr P is home I spend more time in the bedroom rather than the kitchen!

That's a great motivation for batch cooking! I have no reason to get myself organised so I just fly by the seat of my pants, usually not starting to cook until I'm already hungry.

I did ponder whether I could make your ladies' lunch club, but it's a bit far for me to walk!

I just hate mopping our kitchen floor!

Steel yourself!! Keep a stiff upper lip, and think of the "light" at the end of the tunnel πŸ˜€

Well all the cooking is done for the weekend so my domestic goddess duties are done.
