Je sais, le changement c'est maintenant !
But......
Are the new forum titles helpful or not?
I prefer the older version personally.

Took me a while Rob to be fair! lol Caught it mid merge, Let's Talk About Sex having 0 threads in it but CA still there bottom of the list ( IIRC ), then again to find the current format. Thought CA threads had gone altogether at first so maybe still merging them at the time but couldn't for the life of me see any I recognised in the threads list, had to search my username to find one possibly after merge complete? Or maybe just blind? dunno
It's ok. Still takes two clicks into two different forums where one would do ( and would be preferable in my view ) but that's raking over old coals perhaps and I'm well used to that by now, changes nothing whatsoever re: useability. Can see that Sex v. Vanilla forums is potentially a more useful / sensible split than the Cafe / CA split ever was, so all gravy.
As a regular 'lurker' of the forums, I'm all for change now n then, but I can't find anything
Sooo .... please can someone tell me where the Club Meets and the Current Affairs have gone???
Cheers muchly!

i always thought that a lot of peeps in the cafe liked to stay out of the CA and the bickering/heavy discussion/snide remark type stuff that went on in there, so I'm a little surprised to be honest that the two was merged
thinking about it what would be wrong with sub forums dunno
In truth I think it was less bickering and more bickerer(s) that saw Cafe and CA split in the first place. Cafe had existed as a single forum for all kinds of threads for years without problems. A lot of people got sick of certain kinds of threads being continuously posted by a certain type of poster knowing it would kick up a fuss that would then spill over into other threads on altogether none-controversial subjects. I think the decision was taken to corral those off to prevent that wider disruption but that kind of thread was I think at the time associated with a small number of particular individuals, some of whom are no longer with us. This is my take on things, and it seems to be shared by some others I know, some also now banned. As an experiment I think moving CA back into general discussion to see if we can avoid going down the same route again is a good move in my book.
As for sub-forums, makes sense of a big busy forum but SH these days is just not well used enough or fast enough to warrant further sub-dividing. One of my other haunts has maybe 40 forums altogether, I go through phases of posting in particular ones depending what mood I'm in but impossible to keep up to it all, 1000s and 1000s of fast moving threads there. Here it's pointless. IMO.
Clubs has merged with LMU and CA merged with FAC and the FBI with the CIA

Ok, in English (for GnV really) that means:
Lets Meet Up is the old LMU and Club meets merged into one forum.
Fancy a Chat is the old Cafe and Current Affairs for non-swing related discussions.
Dogging, is erm, dogging,
Chatroom is chatroom discussions or help with using the chatroom.
Commerical Events and Holidays same as before.
Site Feedback, same as before, and
Lets Talk About Sex, for anything swinging or sexual related, probably best described as Lets Talk About Sex lol
and sorry for picking on GnV but know he got the same totally warped sense of humour that I have and he very welcome to spank me if he dont like it wink

Ermmmmmmmmm..........Change for change sake I think. Sometimes owners of whatever feel the need to tinker here or tinker there, so the members think they are not just sitting around taking the money. But I have to say in so many instances ' if it ain't broke etc '.
Still I am sure there is a good reason. wink
I know im stupid but where has the CA bit gone ? Has it new name or what ? sad
in this instance, applying the lebanese saying "stir your yoghurts and they will be sold" was not necessary me thinks :jagsatwork:

And they said......
I understand to a degree what Tweeky is saying there, but as I was not here at the time that the CA part of the forum was created to discuss contentious issues, and so by doing that keeping it away from what was the Cafe?
Right so that seemed to have worked fine, but now have reverted back to how it was, but not calling it the Cafe but ' fancy a chat '.
What is wrong with having a separate section of the forum where people can discuss topics that are invariably not of a sexual nature? By having contentious subjects in a part of the forum that other members use but do not want to see contentions threads, is surely as before a recipe for things to go wrong? People who hate the CA part of the forum but loved the cafe, will now be drawn onto a contentious thread by the mere fact it is going to be there staring at them.
Still what do I know?

Sign of the times methinks.
At one time the SH forum was highly active with lots of prolific posters and so splitting threads up did not harm the perception of the Site as being a busy venue. Unfortunately, the Site has lost a large number of posters, the sections are nothing like as active as they once were and this gives the impression of a quieter Site.
Put 20 people in ten rooms and every room is deserted - put the same 20 people into 4 rooms and the interaction improves thus the perception of a busier forum.
Simples - Busy = successful, Quiet = failing.
Looks like meaningless windowdressing to me!
