You think that'll help you avoid the problem that you've alleged he was forced him to leave high office more than once because of tax fiddles?

pmsl Is that some sort of Northumbrian code?

Once a thieving little toe rag, always a thieving little toe rag. Had his grubby little fingers in the "till" for far too long did Mandleson.

So all this money he was spending was going into his back pocket was it?
No, but the money from his tax fiddles were.. you remember surely? The ones which caused him to leave high office more than once?
But once you have that mentality, treating other peoples money with total disregard just comes naturally.
I've put a summary of each resignation below, can you please explain what the tax fiddle was?
In the first resignation, Mandelson had bought a home with the assistance of an interest-free loan of £373,000 from Geoffrey Robinson, who was subject to an inquiry into his business dealings by Mandelson's department. Mandelson contended that he had deliberately not taken part in any decisions relating to Robinson. He should have declared the loan in the Register of Members' Interests and he resigned. He had also not declared the loan to his building society although they decided not to take any action because the information given at the time of the mortgage application was accurate.
In the second case, he resigned following accusations of using his position to influence a passport application. He had contacted Home Office minister Mike O'Brien on behalf of Srichand Hinduja, an Indian businessman who was seeking British citizenship, and whose family firm was to become the main sponsor of the "Faith Zone" in the Millennium Dome. At the time, Hinduja and his brothers were under investigation by the Indian government for alleged involvement in the Bofors scandal. Mandelson insisted he had done nothing wrong and was exonerated by an independent inquiry which concluded that neither Mandelson nor anyone else had acted improperly.
Also, what's your view on Lord Ashcroft donating millions to the Tories to help them win seats, yet not paying tax on his income in this country?
I know that question was aimed at GNV but.....IF and it is a big IF, mandelson had done nothing wrong, then why did he resign???
The building society took no action as he was making his payments, which is usually the attitude they adopt.
Two separate incidents where people he was dealing with fell under investigation, of which in the position he was in must have known something about it.
The question remains.....why resign if he thought he had done nothing wrong?
" He should have declared the loan in the Register of Members' Interests and he resigned ".
He knew without doubt that he should have declared it, and the money that he " borrowed " was a huge amount of money, and interest free as well eh? Wink wink I hear people cry. If he knew he had to declare it, why did he not declare it? The person that " borrowed " him the money was at the time under investigation from Mandelsons own dept............you cannot see anything funny in any of that?
Without a doubt he did use his influence to gain a passport for somebody, which is also against Parliamentary rules of conduct.
There for me is enough to go on to make me believe he is as crooked as a cork screw, plus he looks about as slimy as a frogs arse.

He resigned because the story was on the front page for days on end and showed no sign of going away. In the end, Blair told Mandelson he had to go as the story was damaging the government. That is why he returned months later, because Blair had let him go with a heavy heart.

He had borrowed the money from Robinson in 1996 but only became secretary of state for trade and industry in 1998. So the loan was made while he was in Opposition, not while Robinson was under investigation.

Not true. The independent inquiry - not the kangaroo court of Kenty - cleared him of any wrongdoing.

What an intelligent man you are, forming judgements on someone you have never met. I hope you never sit on jury service.
He had to resign twice, due to dishonesty, simples wink

Oh please............you will have me crying in me cornflakes in a minute.
I for the record have done jury service twice now, being the honest intelligent member of the community that I am.
Fact...........He failed to disclose the loan...............guilty as charged. You do not forget to declare something like that, well maybe you might but as a member of the House you have to do things in the proper manner, or face the music if you do not. He resigned simply because he knew he had been found out....period.
Now how did I know you was going to blame the press, for his wrongdoings.

Obviously another dodgy deal being brokered.....he is also with the brown stuff by his side.

Well you have formed one too............a Labour supporter are you by any chance???
Oh please.

It appeared from your quote that being the intelligent member of the community was the reason you was selected for jury service.
Ermmm no Essex.....I think it was what the judge said to me.
Well as foreman you have to have some sort of intelligence. wink
Silly twit...

" One shadow minister told the Standard: “It would be disastrous. We don't stand a chance of winning back London — or the country — if Ken goes back to his socialist roots. He needs to accept that we need the middle classes and the City onside to win.”
Thatcher sorted him right out.....where did the GLC go Kenny boy?
Going back to the Mandy issue, if I recall correctly there were some "side" issues along with the substantial loan.
If memory serves, the tax evasion bit came from the discovery that he had overstated the fixtures and fittings in a Notting Hill property which would not be subject to property tax (stamp duty) thereby reducing his overall tax bill by taking it below the threshold. It was a well known loophole at the time later closed by the (then) Inland Revenue.
To later accuse Lord Ashcroft of being a tax evader was somewhat "interesting" to say the least.

So being dishonest is the same as a tax fiddle?
language dies a little more every day on here...

About the same analogy as you used to describe a thug matey.

Of course Blair is not this left wing wanker now I suppose?
I see though that red Ed is keeping very silent on the current wildcat underground strikes....does not want to upset his paymasters so early into his leadership.
Bob Crow....what a total tosser of a man.

::Why are Chelsea like the RMT? Two strikes have caused absolute misery in the Arsenal area.
::Why did the Smarties cross the road? Their tube was on strike.
::What's the difference between an RMT member and a stopped clock? For two minutes a day, a stopped clock actually works.
::Why is an RMT member like an Oyster Card? You can feed them all the money you want but they'll always run out at the most inconvenient moment.
::What's the difference between the RMT and lightning? Lightning never strikes twice in the same place.
::Why do Bob Crow's children walk to school? If he drove them it would constitute unpaid overtime.
::You can't blame London Underground workers for striking – they've been on a go-slow for years but no one noticed.
::What does an RMT member do after retiring? About the same as usual ...
::Why is Bob Crow like The Jam? They both taught us what it's like to be Down in the Tube Station at Midnight.
::Why is Steve Hedley like a crooked baseball pitcher? They both throw strikes and end up in jail.

Made my evening they did Blue..............cheers matey.
