We have all no doubt heard the stories posted daily coming from North Korea and the threats it seems to be making against America in particular.
Does anyone think these threats have any facts attached to them, or is it just Kim Jong Un playing a game for the benefit of his people? Is America taking them seriously and what if the worst happens and North Korea does strike an American base?
This seems to be North Korea flexing a few muscles but they do have the capabilities and the man power, but are they crazy enough?
A political tightrope the states are treading really....... They can't let North Korea bully the South or others .... but we all know they actually do have a nuclear capability. If provoked to much, is the leader of North Korea willing to embark be a suicide mission and have his moment in history, by unleasing them.
As I say a tighrope ....and as we all know tightrope walking is very dangerous !!
I don't think North Korea would be so stupid, China needs to rain in her rabid Pekingnese before it gets put down, very inhumanely!
Dont know who flew where, I do know that the chances of an aircraft getting out of North Korean Airpace without being fired upon and destroyed would be worse odds than me winning the lottery tonight.
I do know we lost a lot of good British Soldiers bringing peace to the divided nation of Korea, a peace that has lasted a long time albeit with a lot of sabre rattling throughout it's inception.
I do know that without Chinese support there would be no North Korea today so a lot depends on how much support they would give them in the future.
As for will they won't they, the Koreans know that the US armed forces are very stretched at the moment, that the population would without doubt not support fighting another war for what they would see as someone else and another Vietnam. Many North Koreans are in total poverty and starving to death, the Korean leaders might just think an encounter with the Southern forces might be a good population diminishing tactic and a chance to get some help all round from the Chinese.
They have also been known to be a bit fanatical.
As for the US, they will avoid conflict at all costs for the reasons above but they have to make it look like they are ready and willing to fight.
So it seems from press reports that North Korea have stated they are now at war with the South.
There are a few countries in the world that you do not fuck with, and one of them is North Korea. Lets wait and see who fires the first shot for if a shot is fired, it could have dire consequences. Not for the UK though as we have no fecking armed forces left.
How many syllables is that star?
I reckon you made Steve's day there :lol2:
Do we want to get involved in hostilities involving North Korea.... Absolutely NOT !!
I think that was a rhetorical question from Jed ... I'm sure it was!
Jack
Rhetorical but hopefull thought provoking.
Haven't we as a nation "done our bit"
We stopped the German control of the world, it cost us more than we could afford, in human loss and financial, what did we get out of it ?
Are the aggressors worse off than us ? Germany, Italy, Finland ?
Does the rest of the free world ever think we did a good job ?
Did we get anything out of going into Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan ?
Are we in a position to be the once mighty power we were ?
Do we have anything to gain from going into Syria or fighting the Koreans ?
What about we declare ourselves a Neutral Nation in future, it worked for Argentina in the 2nd WW, it has worked for Switzerland for a long time.
Or is it just time to sit back and leave it to others as they have done with us in the past ?
Certainly scary stuff.
America had best be very careful with flexing her military muscles, as North Korea has some of it's own, ans China has even more if they were to come to North Korea's aid against the USA.
There won't be any War. North Korea hope to achieve the following;
1. Greater Aid
2. To be taken Seriously on the World Stage
3. Diplomatic Dialogue with the USA
4. Their new leader to be seen to be a tough talker and will stand up to
the "big boys"
China and Russia are both reported to have said, through their political spokespersons, to calm it.
Looks like NK are upping the ante by turning on the reactor at Yongbyon, but they would have to rebuild the cooling tower first, still its a nasty threat to make.
