Hello there

So I'm sure I can't be alone in my love of fast cars, bikes etc..

I spend half my year chasing bsb, wsbk, motogp and going to various car and bike events across the country.

Currently have two cars i am going to hopefully restore, both alfas, both 27 years old.

Do you have a favourite make, do you prefer classic/ modified/ modern...

Cali x

Scots lad from Edinburgh now living in the Cotswolds, have one car a SL Mercedes previous a Porsche 987 gen2 plus current motorcycle R1200GS. Lots of previous bikes, Yamaha GTS, Honda CBR 1000, various Beemers

Loved my old Jaguar XJS, also newer XF

Currently have a passion for Jaguar F Type !

Rich x

Oddly, while I consider myself a petrol head, I drive an electric car these days. Have been to various races F1, BTCC and even A1GP when that was a thing.

I tend to prefer modern cars to classics, but tend to look at everything when I go to an event such as Goodwood FoS or, and the Geneva Motor Show.

Think I'd be a liability with tools trying to restore anything, but good luck to you with the Alfa's.

started as a car lover, very focused on the bikes now !! i think the most fun i had in 4 wheels, was an old wrx. still not a patch on the bikes though !

I do like cars - I think my friends would consider me a petrolhead, but suspect I'm an amateur compared to you lot! Do enjoy doing test drives, and when I can afford, a track day. Hoping I'll make a return visit to FoS next year - been too long since I went. Currently trying to stop someone trying to persuade me to attend the Miami Grand Prix. The thought appeals, but the price of the entry ticket doesn't!

Funny my fastest car was also a subaru, but my type r, was faster than most bikes I've had but would still have got beaten by a good rider on a quick bike but at 3.8 secs to 60 and able to run a quater mile in 10secs.. best time was 9.8 secs... it wasn't too shabby ( but was heavily modified)

My most fun car was either my lotus engined metro gti or my supercharged clio sport.

But I miss having a bike x

Don't think that it matters what level your at... appreciation of cars, bikes etc 8s just that.

Get to a moto gp round abroad or even wsbk or bsb... that will be cheaper than f1 and loads of fun lol

And we haven't even talked about the fun we've had IN a car yet ;-)

If anyone suggested fun in my cars they would be sorely disappointed lol my seats are not being used like that..

I think my 'in car fun' days are limited now, too uncomfortable, too awkward,(especially in a sports car!) for six months of the year too cold...... maybe fun for a quick knee trembler but think that may be insufficient for enjoyment needs and fulfilment !

To be fair my current daily drive is excellent for fun as it's huge... but I nearly broke the rear head rest and had to have the car valeted after my last excursion in it.

This would not he happening in or on the alfas

My dd is big as well, tinted windows, leather seats... It has seen some action. But agree a coule of the other cars...no no no no. Either/or for logistical reasons (I struggle to get in one of them), the seat covers or the back seat is... nowhere near big enough to be called a seat.
Maybe that's a sign of old age - many years ago, none of those things would have stopped me!

Mmmmm…. Alfas. So far, my count is 3. I blew up a 155 then went out and got another. Had a Mito Cloverleaf for a while - cracking little gokart! Current daily drive is an AMG A35, debadged and without the silly spoiler pack. It’s a great little thing, subtle in comfort mode and changing to barking (literally) at the flick of the mode switch. I’ve caught a lot of boy racer types by surprise. Had bikes most of my life, currently got a BMW XR900, as I’m getting too old for arse up and head down riding… (on the bike, at least! 😉)

Shhhhh I'm like a newbie on here.. lol my reputation has not quite caught up with me yet 🤐

2 27 year old alfas? Do you store them in a carrier bag? How much original tin is there on them? 🤣

I am still umming and ahing about getting a bike. I remember chatting to Swingy on here before the summer about it. My trouble is that I LOVE speed, and I don't have enough fear.... So a bike could be a bad combo for me!

I'm intrigued by the Lotus engine in the Metro GTI..... I had a MG 1300 'back in the day' and much fun was had in, on and with it - depending on whether it was being driven at the time or not 🤣 What was the engine in your's - was it rover K-series, or something more exotic?

Firstly get a bike... you will regret it otherwise. I've had many metros... a few mg ones... and many more rover ones. My metro has a lotus k series in It.. straight swap. X could run a 15 sec quarter mile at pod.

One of my alfas actually is rust free.. the other needs some welding... but will be done.. both I got as projects. One I paid £300 for it. So never going to lose money on it lol x

Are leather seats better or worse for staining than fabric?

My leather seats seem to do okay in my daily drive x

I really wish I had the space for a few projects. I'd love to get a Mk1 Fiesta (my first car was a '78 1300 Super Sport), I also want to build a Lotus 7 replica. I looked at GBS (Nottingham based), but I no longer have access to the workshop I would have used.... Was going to put a Ford Black Top (ST170) in it on ITBs....

Sorry, Geek mode switched off :-)

It seems there are a few of us. It's sad season after this weekend for me. Stuck watching race re runs till spring. Lol

Yeah, winters not really conducive to outside racing ! Enjoy the final F1 in Abu Dhabi this weekend.

My bike's laid up until the spring, winter rain, ice, salted roads, cold etc not enjoyable enough for two wheels ! 🥶🏍️

I've got a BMW X3 M40i - It's an absolute thug! 🤣

Evening, massively into cars and bikes, lucky enough to have a 911 and a couple of Ducatis, love trackdays on the bike :-)
