Well it seems there are now seven social classes now in Britain.

ELITE
Most privileged group with savings of more than £140,000 and top university education
ESTABLISHED MIDDLE CLASS
Second wealthiest and largest, most gregarious group
TECHNICAL MIDDLE CLASS
Prosperous but scores low for social and cultural capital
NEW AFFLUENT WORKERS
Young group socially and culturally active with mid-range economic capital
TRADITIONAL WORKING CLASS
Oldest group, with high house values but low on all forms of capital
EMERGENT SERVICE WORKERS
New, young urban group which is relatively poor but has high social and cultural capital
PRECARIAT
Poorest class, with low scores for social and cultural capital
I think I probably fall into the traditional working class.
Which categoty do you fall into and why?
Precariat or as we like to think Prebankruptcycariat, the thing is, while we would love to have savings and our own home and a bit of financial security it is never going to happen for us, but we do have some great friends and some great experiences in life that we are proud to say are not at the expense of others. lol
Yes, I'd put you under the oldest group as well star :lol2:

Cheers.
I am unsure what to put you under though. Leave it with me, and I will get back to it when I have the time available.
Btw..........did you feed the ducks today? :rascal:

I was hoping you were force feeding them for my foie gras!
I took the test on the BBC website earlier today after it popped up on Facebook. Apparently I'm part of the Established Middle Class. I was quite disappointed really considering I had my servants fill in the questions for me! rolleyes

And you make that sound as if its a bad thing!!
I don't fit either (
There's no ILLITERATE DOLE DWELLER catagory
A very odd test .... why does it need to to know how much my husband earns ? He keeps his money and i keep mine ! He earns way way more than me but i have savings and he is in debt ! Odd lol
i cant see these new Classes catching ....
under the old class systme we all knew where we where ... now no-one except the mega rich and the ultra poor will be able to tell for sure which category they are supposed to occupy!
feed of Crap!

Wont be long before a new class is added called 'The fucked' there's going to be a fair few in there.
I am none of them. I guess it's because I am an individual.

Given the membership numbers for SH, I'd say there were quite a few 'fucked' wink
Well that's interesting, apparently I (aged 49 ) am one of the New affluent workers ..... strange that I seem to fit non of the stated defining characteristics of this group .... oh well I'll go back to being just a working class pleb then
So the UK now has seven social classes.
It is amazing that somebody has managed to come up with six ways to classify the poor.
