How is everyone getting on dunno

Shit.....
Feeling quite down(depressed :dunno: ) at the moment (have been for a while I suppose)
Piling weight on ....
Creeping back up with the fags....(up to about 20 I suppose)....Still 1/3rd less than I was on but it's still not good enough...

steve you need exercise of some description, ride to work, join a gym, buy a dog than needs lots of walks, anything to keep ya blood pumping and mind off the fags and something to make you feel good about your self
were all here behind you fella wink

Still good ta Dawn. Really good. Thanks for asking passionkiss smile
Next Tuesday is day 92, three months. No question I won't do it, absolutely not in doubt. Feeling too good. Counting the days. I can't tell you how excited I am to be nearing it. I wonder what I'm gonna do once it's been and gone? Will I feel all deflated all of a sudden having hit so major a target for me? I guess the next step is a still bigger challenge: baby stepping it one day at a time to New Year!
No further with cigs either sick with flu missing clinics or can't get the time out of work at the minute over-timing it but patience, will get round to remedying it sooner than later.
Steve, Rob's right. Get some endorphins and energy going, specially omportant after a period having to rest up so completely. Soon wears very thin, eh? Will make benefits of cutting your smoking all too readily apparent also. Quite a motivator finding out how shockingly out of shape you are take it from me mate.

Trouble is I keep thinking of excuses not to do stuff...
Let me show you what I mean....

Ride a bike to work.....Am off on the sick at present and it's an arduous 8 mile journey each way to boot
Join a gym....I did actually look at doing this a little while ago....I'd want to do swimming and weight work (have a large upper body that would look great with some weight work).....£320 per year
Buy a dog......Would actually love a dog but there's no way I could devote enough time to a dog and that wouldn't be fair on the dog :-(
See what I mean ...... rolleyes
Plus any form of exercise will immediately be stunted due to the bloody beta blockers I take which kinda makes me feel like well.....Is it worth bothering :-( ....

And just how much is a packet of ciggies nowadays? ;)
As for the beta blockers, your GP prescribed them, but they also have a vested interest in your health so just go back to them and see what they can do to help you.
Above all else, keep on going. I'm an ex-smoker (30 a day) who managed to eventually quit cold turkey 15 years ago. I lost count of the failed attempts (gum/patches/cutting down all failed for me) but it's all very worth it in the end.
By the way, after a couple of years without the fags you can list yourself as a non-smoker and get cheaper life assurance.
Steve i don't know if this happens where you live, but where i live your GP can give you a "prescription" to a gym so you can go for free, worth asking if they do it smile

a week. You've saved more than that by reducing your smoking from 30 to 20 a day.
All good advice folks .....Thanks
I have a Doc's appointment on Monday so I may broach the subject with him Nellie...
I see what your saying Mart and the figures speak for themselves but to join the gym I need to pay the money up front which I can't afford to do....
If I had spare money lying around I'd get the heating repaired (approaching 3rd winter with no heating now due to the boiler being knackered)...

Actually that's a bluddy good point. Friend o' mine had a minor heart attack, followed by angioplasty, and he got gym classes as part of his rehab. Def worth a punt Steve.

Well done Neil, really brilliant kiss
Steve, you might be struggling but don't give up trying because of of these days, you might mange to stop
Steve, what a bout an evening class? Not for everyone I know. But at about £40 to £70 for 10 weeks you could learn a new language, Italian cooking or brush up your car maintenance skills - if you are on benefits it is probably free. biggrin
If you sign up for something, especially if you pay for it, you may feel more incentive to go along. And it is a limited time, 7 to 10 weeks, so you know it will end at a known point.
I did an Archaeology A level years ago - we laughed most of the way throught the 'lessons' and had a day trip to boot.

Anything's possible I suppose but to be honest I'm that pissed off (with everything) at the moment I'm not gonna hold my breath....

I know what the fault is but parts for the boiler have been discontinued smackbottom
I can do very little before I am knackered (was told by consultant this was due to betablockers....(Antenolol) :-(

Would extra B12 help? It optimises the release of energy from food. Maybe worth asking the doc about possible alternatives or adjusting the dose/frequency?
It's a shame to be stuck with no energy when you are trying to be healthier.

This week has been a bitch though lots of stress but I made it and even managed to offload my stash of duty free.
Feel loads better apart from I am eating like a fecking horse and the money I am saving is going towards my new marine aquarium
Steve I got an old boiler here you can have I'll pack her bags and put her in a taxi bolt
You will get there mate.
Well done too Neil, I cut my drink down a few years ago but don't think it is something I would like to stop completely, I do enjoy the odd drink or 2 now and again.

I wouldn't wanna stop drinking completely myself, I love real ales too much but it's past the stage where I have a choice in the matter unfortunately. I dunno, there may come a time when I can start with the odd drink having regained some control but that seems unlikely on past performance. I drink the first drink, the rest seem to drink themselves and just don't know when to stop. Not having that first one is the only control I'm able to exert at the minute. Shit really but there it is. The consolation for the loss of Black Sheep and Theakstons is that my mood is almost unrecognisable from how it was just three months ago, and things are just generally much improved every which way. I can stand the loss on that basis, it seems a fair trade, one very much in my favour. smile
And congrats on the three weeks. Stopping drinking is hard, I'm sure I'm gonna find quitting smoking even harder so three weeks is quite an achievement Meeko, one to be quite pleased with yerself about. Few more days you can officially start counting in months, one day at a time though obviously! ;)
Only just catching up with this thread.
Good luck everyone kiss
