Newsspaper scaremongering again
Dave_Notts
Bugger me I've only just got over the bird flu scare.
Dont our media just love a horror show. Plus ca change.
On the news they say they are still testing in this country to check what it actually is.
Well if the newspapers have their way, those 2 confirmed cases, will be 20 cases by 9!!
A complete load of old tosh.
I seem to remember the same being said about bird flu.
Do you all remember that one? Most will not as it came as quick as it went, the same as this will. All that scaremongering over that.
And people say about my " generalisations ".
The big difference between bird flu and swine fever is that there have been 149 deaths in Mexico up to now, and further confirmed cases in other countries. With the bird flu, the virus didn't seem able to transfer very easily between humans (although there were deaths from that as well) but this strain seems to have developed that ability quite well.
It remains to be seen whether this will be another scare story, but I don't think it does any harm to at least be wary and vigilant if you or friends/family are traveling to places such as Mexico where there have been deaths ;)
I'm off to asda tomorrow afternoon, be loads of pork chops on sale....mmmmmm glazed with honey and black pepper
the government and other authorties are taking the chance of a flu pandemic seriously and are putting plans in place to try and deal with it but i think time will tell whethher this is the pandemic or not
People over here worrying about swine flu.
Think if you have to go into hospital, which you would if you caught swine flu, I would be more worried about catching MRSA whilst I am in there being treated for swine flu.
I do not know how many people have died over here from MRSA, but my betting it will be a damn sight more than swine flu will kill over here.
Scaremongering indeed.
There could be an underlining reason for this scaremongering
Maybe I am wrong ? but ? there is a recession on at the mo,peeps are not buying so much esp meat ?
good excuse to put the price of meat up on any meat ?
sits back and awaits the big combines to fleece the public again
similer thing happend with chickens a while back they went through the roof on price ?
steve
Erm, I can't stop sneezing today. Have I got it?
there was this piccy years ago...a chick on a chickenfarm sneezes, in the next piccy all other chicks are heaped in a corner, with expressions of terror on their little faces, the sneezer chick is in the middle of the room laughing his arse of and the farmer is scolding it because he did not appreciate the joke
the avian flu still exists, has always existed and will continue to exist and to cause a small number of deaths every year, as it has always done..the only reason it became such an issue is not because it suddenly became more virulent..which it didn't... it's the media hype that surrounded it.
as for the swine fever... scaremongering porky or not, time will tell.
well i am going to TROT to the chippy and make a PIG of myself then throw it all in a TOUGH to eat then clean the appartment up cos its like a STY then SNORT some substance I cannot pronounce then maybe PORK my lover then make HAY to do the washing then CHOP up the cabbage for tommorows lunch then .........need I go on ..................NO
