I'm with you Blue, it's crystal clear to me!
Love or hate her....she will undoubtably be remembered. However thats not always a good thing....we do haveple like J.F Kennedy or John Lennon for example that are remembered.....but also have Hitler and Saddam Hussain...sure they will be remembered as well.....as I say...its not always for the right reasons.
Mrs thatcher presided over the worst riots we have seen in this country....with the Poll Tax.....we had two Summers of Race riots in our inner cities....we saw the dismantling of our industrial base. we saw the rise of the Yuppie.. Loads of money...don't care about you Jack I'm okay, culture. At the time of her own departure she was the most hated person in the UK....even her own party saw that and kicked her out mid term. Her legacy was to ensure three election wins for Labour.
I wish Mrs Thatcher no harm now, by all accounts she is a frail old lady, with dementia. I do honestly wish her well and good health. But if she was ever offered a state funeral there would be total upraor in the country.
below is a link....maybe funny...but is was exactly what the Mrs Thatcher years was about !
For me the Thatcher years were wonderful time lol

And to me (as I wrote it)!
The fog must be getting really thick in Staggs favourite bar these days...
Mind you, he could be half right... she had more bollocks than the rest of the male population of the Palace of Westminster put together... images of Spitting Image come to mind with her standing at the urinals in the Gents below stairs :lol2:
i reckon they should allow everyone a day off when she does depart us.
except of course for the thatcher haters, but hold on a minute i am sure they would still take the day off.

this almost brought me to teers.

The Thatcher haters are obviously too young to remember the years that preceded her. A country paralysed by Unions, completely broke, a work shy population and astronomically high taxes.
Mrs Thatcher changed the United Kingdom for the better and no right thinking person who was of an age to understand economics in the pre Thatcher years could possibly say any different.
Granted that Social Ideologists might have a different view - but even the concept, of equality for all apart from the fact that some are more equal than others, collapsed some years later.

that sounds like a very good idea
Oh well perhaps I overestimated you .... sometimes a line is just wasted ... pearls etc.
Yes a lot more signatures should be forthcoming, we all know that there are many idiots in the UK so having a list of thier names and IP addresses could be beneficial wink

Is this in remarkably bad taste. I am all for dancing on graves but surely one should wait for the individuals death and return to room temperature.

Well Ben, you certainly started the hare running with this. I am amazed at the vitriolic right wing views expressed on here.

But not at the vitriolic left wing views expressed on here then?

possibly a labour supporter then dunno

There does seem to be a rather more deep seated bitterness expressed in those views.
Possibly a Tory/libdem/coalition supporter?

My feeling is that prime ministers don't warrant a state funeral. Only the existing monarch does.

Remind me, as I'm getting a bit old in the tooth. Didn't Churchill warrant a State funeral and didn't the Queen Mother lay in State in Westminster Hall before a public(ish) ceremony?
And what about the amount of money wasted on the very public funeral of the fruitcake Diana, Princess of Wales just to up Bliar's popularity?
Baroness T is in every way deserving of a good send off. AFAIK, even Arfur Scarguts would pay in handsomely to any kind of send off fund if it pre-dates his demise :lol2:
I think you meant HER .... how and where do I contribute to such a fund ??
No, it is very obviously pre-dates HIS demise. He would pay into a send off fund, if it happens before HE pops his clogs.
Look up go on up ...no a bit further ....aaaah there it is
just goes to prove that some people only see what they want to see!
It's not a case of reading what I want to read, I am reading it as he can't give once he has died. therefore pre-dates his demise.

See you still haven't managed to take that foot out of your mouth
One thing that amuses or baffles me in any conversation/discussion/bickering about Thatcher, is that you get the usual Labour supporters spill their hatred for what she did to this country, yet conveniently forget that she left power in 1990, to be replaced by John Major, who then became Prime Minister for 7 years. Labour were elected into power in 1997, and despite being in power for 13 years, did nothing to change some people's views that the problems with this country is all the fault of Thatcher.
