After deciding today that our daughter has no obvious skill in stacking dishes on a draining board (she's grown up with a dishwasher rolleyes) we got to thinking about all the other things she'll probably never need to learn. These are a few that came to mind:

How to wind a watch or clock.
How to clean, make up, or light an open fire.
How to wash clothes by hand or, even more unlikely, use a washboard.
How to use or even recognise a public phone.
I'm sure there are many other things, and others that our generation never picked up from our parents/grandparents. What do you remember doing that kids wouldn't know about nowadays?

Milk in a glass bottle wiv cream on the top under a silver foil lid

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. We used to have to save the foil tops to send off to Valerie Singleton so she could turn them into lifeboats and guide dogs etc.
How about only having two sorts of crisps: Plain, or add your own salt from the little blue bag.

Three channels. Luxury! We used to dream of having three channels...........

followed by a white dot and a continous tone lol

I had to explain to a 17 year old lad how a vinyl LP works, the other day. He didn't realise that you play both sides!

Andy bought a c5 off ebay a few years ago, it's now used as a storage outside for some of his tools (rain cover over it)
ZX spectrum zx80/81 are in our loft being kept for our chillun to use as doorstops when they're older and why oh why we need em when one of the first thing andy did when he bought the ipads was to buy an app with all the zx spectrum games, manic miner/jetset willy? so yet more dust gathering rubbish (the spectrum things)
If they work they can fetch quite a bit you may even get some for them if they dont. I deal in the retro games market and collectors simply want to play the games in the original intended way not on a iphone or PC.
Just checked ebay and theres 1 x ZX81 with the fatal mistake of listing it as untested rolleyes Just means it dont work. If you wanted would be a good time to sell.

White dog poo!!

Yeah, why did that used to happen? And where has it all gone now? confused
Another one I just thought of.... at this rate our kids will never know what sunshine looks like! sad
White dog pooh was caused by the manufacturers of dog food using a high proportion of bonemeal in their products. However this is no longer the case because all pet food must be fit for human consumption!
