Following news this week that former Happy Mondays dancer Bez, whose real name is Mark Berry and famed for his percussive dancing, has promised to continue to "shake my maracas against fracking" as an MP (if he is elected to Parliament).
With Martin Bell defeating Neil Hamilton in what is now Chancellor George Osborne's Tatton seat back in 1997 (remember this was at the time the fourth safest Conservative seat in Britain), actress Glenda Jackson becoming MP for Hampstead and Highgate 1992, and George Galloway returned to Parliament at the March 2012 Bradford West by-election in an unexpected landslide result.
This got us thinking about given a free choice and the person named actually willing to be nominated to stand, who would you like to see stand as an MP in the 2015 General Election ?
David Beckham, not the brightest light bulb in the box but honest, genuine, loves his country, loyal, devoted family man, rich enough not to fiddle his expenses, proven great ambassador, at one with the people because though he is rich now he came from your average background.
But a proviso would be that he didn't listen to a word his missus said and told her straight away that they would not be allowed to dismiss the current Monarchy and take their place lol

He might of mellowed now, not seen him for a long time, but we had some laughs together in WMH and he is a very likeable man who has done much to support others in the 30 years since he was WIA. I would support that vote, but think he would rather sit for the Welsh Assembly.
The late Baroness Margaret Thatcher, even dead she has more fight in her than most politicians and would be politicians lol
harold shipman. minister for health

Ouch can't believe I heard that one on a swingers site, I am devoted to, and love Sasha but I shag lot's of other women, we just decided to follow our love of the making friends and variety in our sex life through this lifestyle, a shame more people don't choose honesty in this instead of playing away.
I don't think anything he has done in his relationship has shown anything BUT devotion to his family, his wife and his kids, he could have gone a step further and abstained from cheating but that is not for me to judge.
Krusty the Klown- he'd fit in well with all the other jokers currently 'working' there rolleyes
I thought Krusty the Clown was a Politician, his jokes are not funny, he is always out to make money for himself, he cares nothing for those that he takes the money from, he is self centred happy to change his opinion to please those that keep him in his job and is generally speaking a knob-head lol
Now Homer would make a great Euro MP, thick, unlucky, always backs the wrong thing, willing to compromise, no fear of a danger to mankind in favour of self gain albeit that it never works out the way he hoped and befriended by a bunch of losers

Luckily Maria Miller has already found herself a new job................stand-in for White Dee from Benefits St, with the added bonus that Maria doesn't charged with benefit fraud !!

Now, call me a cynic....
Maria Miller has been tucked up by the media just like Andrew Mitchell was by the corrupt Police Federation.
Ms Miller had the unenviable task of implementing the Government's policy on media control in the wake of the Leveson enquiry which will place controls on the way these unelected dictators of the 'art' of spouting half-truths to a gullible nation will operate in the future.
It is a tragedy that her career has been ended in this way.
The press is all too powerful and unashamedly distort the truth for their own nefarious purposes. That they have scored a hit on this occasion is dreadful and I sincerely hope that her replacement - tipped for even higher Office - will strengthen the resolve to bring these dreadful people to account.
It's a bad day for democracy.

I have seen the most inane drivel and outraged posturing on so many forums about this woman and here, for the first time is something that I agree with about this issue.

If she, and the other MP's kept their snouts out of the trough, didn't claim for every minute and ridiculous thing that no normal business could claim for- while bleating on about austerity and 'we're all in it together' while fucking the entire country over in numerous ways- then maybe the press would have nothing to pull her up about

Forgive me mentioning one small point. But she was actually found innocent of the blatantly slanderous accusations made by that Leftie Mann. She was criticised for failing to respond in a timely manner to the inquiries by the committee forgetting she is a working Mum, a constituency MP and a Secretary of State. The allegations of £45,000 theft by Mr Mann were found to be an error of some £5,800 caused by a change of rules she failed to notice. The media feeding frenzy that followed her 32 second apology was some of the worst I have seen.
And to add insult to injury that creep Milliband made Party Politics out of it at PMQs trying to make out the PM's loyalty to one of his Ministers should be deplored. Like the Labour Party tends to do these days over its time in Government he failed to mention in January 2009 the commons Leader Harriet Harman tabled a motion which would exempt MPs' expenses from being disclosed under a Freedom of Information request. Or her attempts to protect her mates failed because the Tories and others voted against. Or that it was only Labour MPs who were sent to Prison! 5 of the thieving scum for a total of 68 months. Or one other Margaret Moran was declared 'mentally unfit' to plead but was found guilty! So that's alright then Ed. No worries!
10 Labour MPs decided 'not to seek re-election' in 2010 after reports about their expenses. Labour lost 5 Ministers to the scandal and left politics. His mate Ed Balls and his lawyer wife were caught fiddling far more than Maria Miller? Did they resign? Jaqui Smith Labour Home Secretary bought porn and was kicked out by the electors? We never heard that did we Ed?
And don't get me started on Mandelson ....
For the record 2 Tory Peers were jailed as well.

... and if the press had kept their noses clean by not hacking Millie Dowler's mobile (and other such diabolical things) perhaps there would not have been a need for Leveson or ultimately Maria Millar to steer legislation through Parliament to control their actions rolleyes

The printed media is out of control and has a self-belief that it is there to dish it out but not receive it. So when Leveson hung all their dirty washing out in public, and they failed to drag any Ministers in the process they just said 'Sod You' when Parliament (who we elect) told them how they would be regulated. And years later there is STILL no regulation. So Maria Miller was fair game as they knew there would be no comeback.
The answer is simple. Just stop buying newspapers, they go bust and its sorted.

What the hackers did was against the law !! A prosecution against the individuals who did it, with sufficiently long prison sentences as a warning to others would probably have solved that whole problem. The same principle could have been applied to MPs who claimed expenses to which they were not entitled.
Instead, in both cases, the blame was placed upon the systems and the institutions instead of indiviuals.

Have I missed something? I thought that six former NoW journalists are currently being trialled for conspiracy to hack mobile phones and that several MPs did go to prison over false expenses claims.

Missed maybe not, understated more like, Several MP's? How many fiddled, and skimming through wiki regarding the expenses I'd say geordiecpl's comment 'Instead, in both cases, the blame was placed upon the systems and the institutions instead of indiviuals.' is pretty much spot on.

and further reading through Baroness Uddin's wiki entry and her 120k + expenses scandal and not a prison sentence in sight, yeah perhaps you did miss geordiecpls point.

There has been at least one journalist already sent to prison for phone hacking and another 6 are currently on trial. I'd say that this was the individuals being blamed, although The newspaper industry should certainly shoulder it's share of responsibility for allowing such practices. With regards to MPs expenses, the institution may well have been blamed rather than the individuals as it was the institution that actively encouraged MPs to claim in the manner they did although the MPs that were convicted of fraud were sent to prison.
Lets remember Leveson was commissioned because of hacking scandals and the lack of self -discipline in the printed media. It was later opened up to other media. The expenses scandal was nothing to do with Leveson as such although the media did try to muddy the waters. So yes Leveson WAS about systems and processes. It had to be because there was no effective regulation of the Press. And when the Government followed Levesons recommendations to the letter the Media said 'Fuck You!' And given it was Miller who had to drive that through Parliament and find common ground with Parties she was a marked woman and they got her scalp.
I did point out that Labour was rife with thieving scumbags and had 5 sent to prison with another found guilty but mentally unstable. She was in good company in the Labour Party .. And therefore that it was a bit rich for Milliband to get all righteous about the PMs handling of the Maris Miller episode. Stones / glasshouses syndrome.
Just like Mitchell was the mark in a Police federation fit up because the Government had sought to bring in changes to Police pay and get more bobbies out on the beat rather than in the canteen. And again Milliband piled in playing politics in support of his Police Union buddies. And hasn't it backfired! 3 senior detectives made to look idiots and Chief Constables derided in front of the Select committee. A copper in jail for faking the email that got Mitchell sacked. And the Met taking 18 months to report on who had access to who's note books and actually discipline anyone. In this case TV media did actually show how the Police had lied consistently.
Basically anything goes for the Lefties when it comes to attacking a Tory led coalition that is having to deal with the shite they left behind because they can't quite believe they lost the last election! It's so unfair!
Oh and GnV ... arse wiping with a newspaper hasn't been the same since they brought in 'New technology' at Wapping ... lol
It has to be MAX CLIFFORD
