My favourite posts are the detailed informative ones !! lol
lol...
for that young man my reason is as follows, vodaphone have fucked about with 3G in the Tyne and Wear area for the past few days and I have not been able to connect...only very intermittently and usually halfway through a post I drop out...that's my excuse for only reading and not posting!!
Roll on friday night when i get back to the civilisation that is Devon :-)

Sorry ??
Are you absolutely sure that "Devon" and "civilisation" can be used in the same sentence ? flipa

Civilisation isn't measured by the gadgets etc. that one has or the access to the local Starbucks...but by how you measure the quality of your life without those things...and for me Devon hits the spot...
Just wait till I own that farm in Cornwall...lol
A......................
E. Sometimes it's better to say nothing at all, especially when you know nothing of the subject, or don't feel emotive enough to reach for the keyboard.
For the record though, East Devon is civilised, the rest is too close to Cornwall bolt
I post if I have an opinion on the subject, have some information on the subject but if not then sometimes I pass the thread by and sometimes I just read what people do have to say on the subject.
I may be highly opinionated, but not on everything
lol

E. None of the above

I like the forums, and like I said in my profile, if I don't post my opinion before I read other peoples' opinions I might end up not being quite sure of what I think! smile
But seriously, being AWOL by nature whenever I come back to the forums someone already said what I would have liked to say so I don't see the need to repeat the same 'opinion'.
Having said that, I much prefer the forums to the chatrooms. I find the chatrooms more cliquey than the forums. Everyone in the chatrooms seems to know each other and when you greet people no-one replies (or very few do) I guess they are too busy wanking (which of course I never do ahem). Another thing with the chatroos is all the formalities and rules. You can't say this, you can't say that, you can't whisper, you can't sneeze, you can't yawn, you can't direct, you can't redirect, etc. etc. Plus I'm such a slow typist that by the time I finished typing a comment on chat the conversation has moved on so much that they are already talking about something else. Bah humbug... so er... I think I lost my train of thought; what was your question again?
dunno

New threads were started this afternoon and up to 50 people have viewed them ..
Almost nobody has posted ....
Is this because .....
A. The subject was so boring I couldn`t be bothered
B. Don`t want anybody to know I was here
C. I only ever read the threads and never post
D. I read the threads but never post because the forums are so boring having to wait for hours or even days for an answer, chatrooms are much more fun
E. None of the above
F. Everything you say can and will be ignored.

Not necessarily... say the "wrong" thing and all hell will break loose

I want to know who is messing with the views counter on this thread !! lol

dunno
:giggle: bolt
dont think you need to look very far, lol
I generally browse the latest posts, but I think I'm much less likely to post now that "the cafe" doesn't exist and the posts are divided into different categories. Whether or not I comment can be dependant upon lots of factors, like how hung over I am, or whether or not I have an interest.

Can you turn counter back to zero on this thread?
That will confuse him. :giggle:
BTW my response to the original OP is errrm What were the options again?
Without a doubt, plenty of A's
F = Fear for newbies.
Sometimes the Forum can be dominated by the regulars, that in-turn installs fear.
I think the Forum is a far better place to get to know people ver chatroom, but each to their own.
There's alot of reputition in Forums especially on Swing Sites.
Sometimes it takes fellow members time to build up the courage to reply in the Forum.

Agreed on pretty much all the above. It can be particularly intimidating where backbiting and personal animosities among the regs is apparent, probably causes some to wonder if established regs treat each other like that how will a complete n00b fare. There doesn't seem so much of it of late though saying that, what there is is maybe more apparent to regs who'll pick up on it more knowing the histories better perhaps? dunno
Think the forum definitely helps bring out the personality of posters more, makes them easier to get to know more fully cos it allows for greater expression on a wide range of topics in a context that has permanence, not as transient and off-the-cuff as the chatroom so think more thought is put into a properly considered post. Usually anyways! ;) Its greater depth is what gives it the appeal for me.
by the time i got as far as ... had xxx views .... was about to click off the thread
at least i commented........

E. I have done enough rambling in the past to last a lifetime, maybe I just lost my mojo to write so if anyone finds it can you let me know where it is please.
Thanks

I also have another (G) arguing in a thread, when the other poster is so at odds with your view and is polarised after the first couple of times of "well you would say that" and "I knew that was going to be your opinion" and "so you really believe that" I think to myself I really can't be arsed wasting time replying. I go and do something a lot more enjoyable like cleaning my V8 4x4
