So a lot of people, including tonight commentators at the Spain - Chile match, that England owe Wayne Rooney a starting position tomorrow night because without his contribution we may not have got to the World Cup.
A fair view, but the right one ? don't we owe every England supporter and every England Player/Support team/Manager the best team we can field ?
Now bearing in mind I am a born n bred Manchester United supporter nobody can accuse me of being bias against him and I would love to see him rewarded for what he has done, but the best reward I can think of giving him is a World Cup Winners Medal and a hand on the Trophy, he has taken part he has earned it if we won it and I hope that he does play tomorrow night but I have to say I want the best team we can muster so I hope he is playing because he is one of the best team we can muster.
I also think that his playing position can be improved and use him where he is better at playing.
We have a precedence set in this situation, someone called David Beckham did well for his Country until he had one very bad game and one very bad mistake and he was vilified for years, some wanted him killed, the media asked for him to be booed out of football, not exactly a thank you was it, good job he took it on the chin and went on to do even more for the National team and even more as our best ambassador for sport currently trying.

Yes we are all disappointed that the squad are coming home but not as disappointed as the retailers of England regalia which always sells more and more as the team move through the stages, don't worry though Euros in 2 years stick them in the attic
