Yes or no to the alternative vote?

Dont you come on here swearing at me mate. wink
well..looked at all the options....and have to say I will vote NO to AV.
I think with AV we would have a hung parliment every time....and personally I am not in favour of shared government. I I do think the biggest winners would be the smaller fringe parties, who would have more of a say.
So from me..its a NO.
End of the day the Tories are against AV because if it came in the chance of them ever being in government would be very slim.
Alan, et al
Agree that the Tories might well be against it because they might not get back into 'power'
However, if people really want to change the way Parliamentary Elections are run then a change is needed.
But AV is not the correct way, being the least popular anywhere else proportional representatio system any where in the world.
The Lib Dems, really have dropped a monumental clanger with AV rather than asking for a Referendum on many of the alternative and more widely accepted forms of election other than AV or First Past The Post.
We need a change, but not this ill thought out and ill conceived garbage

The cost of the Royal "parasites" in 2009/10 was £38million, benefit fraud and overpayment was some £3.3 billion. Your version of these statistics is as biased as everything else in your post.

I am always surprised that some people on housing benefits are treated with so much more respect than others....I mean 38 million to just a handful of already ultra-rich dole scroungers ...it's nothing is it...only 38 million
how many hospital beds is that ??
yes its funny how the system looks after immigrants better than our own bolt
8 pages of comments on AV, but the poll only shows 20 votes at 10 For AV and 10 Against AV.
However the actual Referendum is today, so don't forget to vote
as much as i hate the tories i hate clegg and his band of no hopers even more so ive voted only chance the lib dems have of getting any power in the future is through another hung parliament and as we have seen the lib dems will gladly rip up there manifisto for a bit of glory.a clever politition is a good lier and clegg is neither and he and his rag tag party will pay dearly for it
It's NO then, so we can move on. wink

Common sense prevails
What I now find intriguing is the fact the the LibDems are now rattling the sabre and making all sorts of their usual whimpering noises.
They asked for the Referendum. They got what they asked for and the result was as predicted and the money used to provide it could have been put to better use
Like it or lump it, the LibDems are in Government in a coalition. They didn't win the election and whilst they can certainly have a say and some influence about the formulation of future Government policy, their own ill-thought out policies are not (nor will they ever be) flavour of the decade with the electorate.
They should stop their moaning and just be grateful for the fact they are on the inside looking out for once, not the other way about.
My vie is that the referendum was designed to fail with total lack of enthusiastic debate or canvassing plus including it along with local elections bollox - I think its a shame personally as it would of been a chance for those who think that British politics is a waste of time to actually do something, however small, to show how much it pisses them off. AV wouldn't of been the end of the world and certainly wouldn't of been detrimental compared to the shit we take now. An opportunity has been lost to do something about it, even if something else would of had to take its place later on. Ah well another generation until any possibility of change occurs i guess.

You reckon? Apart from the referendum, which the Cons made damned sure they 'won', the LibDems have gained nothing but the derision and disgust of their former supporters. That and a collective brown nose from sucking up to their masters who are actually in power. Clegg is Cameron's fag.
