Hi

Anyone with the current Surveillance situation in Maspalomas dunes. February 2022 we saw nothing. Had some fun plenty of attention for my wife. Some areas were cordoned off but generally free to roam. Saw no cars vans or security. Anyone been recently. We are due in 7 weeks. Can’t wait for some action.

Im interested in the answer to this as I'm out there for last week of March

Hi , I went at Christmas for a break I have just put up 2x stories of my adventures have a read it may give you an idea of what was happening when I was there ,

We went in November and we were disappointed with the dunes, the previous year everyone was sunbathing as couples in the dunes and people were having fun, single guys wandering around enjoying the sites, however this year their wasn’t one couple and just a few random guy dotted around !!! We were also staying at Abora Catarina which had a nice sun terrace, but that was also rather tame ! I Think we are now looking for a similar destination but elsewhere !

Thats a shame, were they signs of the dunes be heavily policed?

I wonder where everyone is going instead?

Fuerteventura - Corralejo?

I'm also staying at the Abora Catarina at the end of March and will be making use of the sun terrace.

Hi, have you had a look at cap d'agde in France? We went there for the first time in aug 2021 and we've been back another twice since. It's truly magnificent and you're guaranteed to have fun. We're heading back there on 1st of June, can't wait. XX

Was there last March, partner and I gotcaught by the police patrol, basically moved on. We didn’t know the patrols cease at 2pm ish. We’re going again last week of March.

I'm off to Corralejo in early March. I have never been before, so I would love some information if possible. Cheers.

I havent been to that end of the island for a while, I have been going to the nudist beaches in Jandia in the south of the island for the last few years.

The last time I went to Corralejo it was late Feb early March and it was quite windy and cold!

The 'action' is in the dunes near the Riu hotels. Plenty going on the last time I was there (over 5yrs ago).

There was some talk of the hotels and main road outside being abandoned to the dunes as apparently the hotels were illegally built in the 70's in the National park. They were in the process of building a new dual carriageway, further inland, to replace the coast road. That was pre covid so not sure if it ever got finished.

I'm off to PDI/Maspalomas tomorrow (until 9th March) so I'll report back!

If anyone will be there at the same time please drop me a line.

Just come back from a visit.

It

‘It’s fact that the Dunes are policed. Mainly 2 guys in purple tops supported by police. They tended to move people on. There were no people around in the morning or early afternoon

After 3pm things changed actually packed. Couples were heading to the hetro area and other areas were busy. Saw some action from afar. Wife not keen to play in case we got caught. Many were but not as it was.

We haven't been since pre covid, however always had fun in Corralejo and El Cotillo. Never found the naturist beaches in Jandia, so if you have any names for them, please share. Hope to get back there soon.

Shame you aren't going back in August - I am there end Aug.

I was there during lockdown. As there was no one in the dunes at that period nature started to changed the dunes back to how they were so the authorities used the opportunity to put them out of bounds to let nature carry on. It is such a shame as so much fun was had there. I was last there last September when at least the sunbeds had returned on the nudist beach but the kiosks were still closed. I am going from March 28th to April 22nd. Does anyone know if the kiosks have reopened yet

I've just come back and, yes, all of the kiosks are open, which makes for a much better atmosphere. The sunbeds are also out at all of the kiosks.

I had a wander around the dunes and, as others have reported, there are no patrols later in the afternoon so it's safe to have some fun. I don't know exactly what time the patrols stop but it's certainly OK by 3 pm. The dunes are a lot cleaner now as there has been a good clean up and it would be nice if they were kept that way.

We might see you out there!

The kiosks are no open for sure, the old kiosk 4 is now kiosk 7. From what i can gather from my short time here is that the dunes are policed to mid afternoon then staff go home and the dunes start to get busy again, no t as much as it used to be but still some action available. Here till 22 Apr if anyone around and fancies meeting up if only for a drink

Just come back, best weather I have ever had in the Canaries (been probably 30times) 9 days with no cloud! Its forecast to last at least another week.

Dunes are nothing like they were pre covid, went down there one day and only saw one man in the dunes (roped off section) normally there would be 100's of people. If you just wanted to go to the nudist beach then you have no shelter if the wind gets up and starts blasting sand at you. If you go back into the dunes to shelter behind some vegetation you risk a 500 Euro fine! The difference in the amount of vegetation is negligible as due to the lack of people roaming around the sand is much deeper and has covered it. The sand has almost covered the wooden posts they have put in in places. Completely pointless exercise in my opinion, it is either a money making scam by the council in dishing out ridiculous fines or they just wanted to stop the 'activities' there.

Enough of my rant, still had a great time on the nude sun roof of the hotel, with a little bit of fun. A lot of 'club scene' couples were there and were obviously having a great time at night in the clubs & bars, judging by the conversations.

Blimey bit of a change in temperature since last week! Gran Canaria is affected by a Calima (Saharan dust storm) today, the temperature is 12c - was 37c a week ago!

I remember being out there about 10yrs ago and woke up to what looked like dense fog, completely blotted out the sun, it was so cold I stayed in the hotel room for 4 days with aircon turned to heat.

I have got to say Harrishawk you are a truly breathtakingly stunning lady indeed x

We are out for 2 weeks in May was hoping the dunes would be back in vogue but obviously not! Pity

We are going in September 23 . First time. Staying at the Rio Couples Hotel. Anyone know what the swing clubs are like ? Also is there any fun in this hotel? Any information would be very helpful. Thank you.

Let us know how you get on please. Many thanks and enjoy.

We are heading to PDI for the first time on 27th June - anyone there at the same time?

Quote from The Canarian Weekly:-

"The Department of the Environment of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria has issued 120 fines between January and July of this year for trespassing and camping in unauthorized areas within the Special Natural Reserve of the Maspalomas Dunes.

This reserve is one of the island's main tourist attractions and a popular destination throughout the Canary Islands. The number of fines issued this year has multiplied by six compared to the total of 20 fines issued in all of 2022 and has doubled the 60 fines issued in 2021.

These fines have been imposed due to the impact on a natural area with one of the highest levels of environmental protection regulations. The excessive foot traffic outside of the four designated paths leads to damage to the dune ecosystem.

Because of this, the majority of the fines amount to 150 euros for violating the rules displayed in various information points and signage. Additionally, fines exceeding 400 euros have been imposed on audiovisual sector companies (photography, videos, etc.) that have ventured into unauthorized areas for their work without obtaining special prior permits.

The overcrowding of the dunes with tourists, both in summer and winter, is hindering the growth of vegetation in the area, which is crucial for retaining sand in the reserve. The reduced presence of "balancones", common shrubs in the sandy coastal areas of the islands, is being threatened by excessive foot traffic, whether for capturing snapshots of the spectacular sunsets or engaging in less appropriate activities such as "cruising" (public sexual encounters), means that there are fewer natural barriers to sand movement."

Hi

I am going to Maspalomas in mid November 23 and wondered if anyone has just returned - any information on places to go in the dunes for fun would be appreciated and anything on “patrols” would be useful too…… I’d like to avoid being fined 😳😳😳

I was there early November - absolutely nothing going on in the dunes apart from some guys solo w*nking

I was there in November too and have to say there was plenty of couples fun in the dunes, I even came (literally) across a French group with 3 women who had an orgy in the dunes and invited other guys to join. I can’t wait to go back 😂
