Join us in a night of history and savour a unique atmosphere that has been centuries in the making. A feast of fine food, wine, mead and entertainment awaits……….
It is the 14th century and you are invited to the Banquet Feast of the local Baron. Before the banquet commences the doors are opened to the Drinking Chamber where wine, ale and mead are purchased. You will be greeted like a friend but be sure to behave or the Abbot will deal with you!
The arrival of the Monastic Order signals the commencement of the evening and lit only by candlelight you will be welcomed into the Baronial Hall for the evening's entertainment to commence.
Armed only with a dagger and a bib you will be served four courses of delicious food. Throughout the feasting banquet maids will fill your goblets with mead and wine while entertaining you with song, dance and sketches.
After you have been well fed and watered the Ladies take to the stage and present a show which includes song, dance and comedy. At the end of the banquet the Court Chamberlain will guide you back into the Drinking Chamber.
Interested?? So am I but at the moment this is just a wet finger in the air to see if there’s enough interest to do it.
It’s a seasonal activity and doesn’t happen for several weeks before and after the Christmas period which, coupled with the bookings they already have, means that the earliest we could do it would probably be February. It all depends on the numbers that want to go.
It would be purely a social evening. It would not be a private party and we would be sharing the room with others. It is however over 18’s only and I believe people are encouraged to be on their best medieval behaviour.
The cost for the banquet would be:
per person for up to 40 of us
per person for between 40 and 50 of us
per person if there are more than 50 of us
Accommodation is available but I would probably ask that you arrange that on an individual basis.
The place is in the midlands and is quite close to both the M6 and the M1 so it’s pretty central and shouldn’t be difficult to get to.
Any takers???
