Advice about attending a social

Hi. We've been members here for 11 years but never been to a social. Can anyone tell us what to expect and also how to get an invitation? Thanks.

Look out for invites in the Forum then simply respond saying you'd like to go. Some organisers may ask others that are attending to verify you. Socials are parties for like minded people. No playing at venues, respect staff who work there etc. We've been to plenty and always enjoy catching up with friends and meeting new people.
If you read the Forum it will give an idea of rules etc

Hi,
Socials tend to be gatherings of like-minded people in a public place, with plenty of opportunity to meet others. They're good fun, with no pressure to do anything you wouldn't enjoy. :thumbup:
Don't wait for an invite.... just put your name down in one if the social threads in this forum.
We were nervous about attending our first one, but after doing a few now we can categorically state that the nerves were completely unfounded.

That sounds good. What sort of venues do they tend to be at and how many people usually attend?

.... the ad pretty much tells you everything. Of course te numbers of people depends on the size of the venue and the convenience for people so, for example, if it was the outer Hebrides it may be a little less inaccessible for many. This is Manchester so is more accessible.

well...you been on site a while so think its defiantly time you attended a social lol

The great thing about the socials is its all a non pressure situation. If you attend a club, a great many require you to remove your clothing and use a towel and there is an air of sexual tension and persuasion to a degree, after all you have entered a swingers club !! However a social, its important that nothing goes on at the venue. Its simply a way of putting names to faces, and getting to know a few new faces. Making sure people actually look like their pictures !! and seeing if the people are the type you like and would choose to go further with. trust me plenty of connections are made for future use !!
So yes...normally great fun, friendly atmosphere and totally non pressured. get your names down for one.

I remember attending my 1st social......looking like a rabbit caught in the full beam of a headlight :scared:
Have made some great friends at socials and looking forward to going to the Manchester event :thumbup:

Just like you Dee, we were like that at our first one- but still having memories come back even now lol

( we did end up a wee bit inebriated - good job nobody fancies us , we were incapable afterwards) after that, the nerves had gone and we've enjoyed more since, there's really nothing to fear.
