I`m james, 28 from north manchester.
I`m 5`7, with short black hair, brown eyes with a slim/athletic build.

Hi Mancjames, the best way to get to know people on here is to join in with the conversations, let your personality show through, and then ask for an invite to one of the many social events (Muches etc). You have to remember that there are loads and loads of single guys on here and you have to show why you are better than the rest (and I dont mean the size of your bits) 
Show people you are that bit better - do a sales job on yourself and make people want to get to know you. Show your personality and sense of humour, but most of all, dont take it too seriously, just enjoy the ride!
Spelling is important, as Carolseandevon says, it shows you are putting in that bit more effort than the rest, but as my spelling/typing is terrible, I certainly wont judge you on your 'little' typo (I do hundreds).
Good luck and have fun on the forums while you are getting to know people. Remember, Swinging Heaven is more like a community and from what I have seen on here, people very often, but not all of them, like to take their time making friends before they jump into bed (or wherever) with you.

One question though... If I dont fancy these events (I have never heard of a munch but can vividly imagine it lol) will I still be able to make contacts ?
I am quite a conservative fella (not shy) and not sure the events are for me !!
Any ideas....

First off -you may be making the common mistake of thinking what a much is - it is purely a social meet - nothing more nothing less.
Sure you'd be able to make contacts - but i would imagine a hell of alot slower!!
At the end of the day - do what makes you feel comfortable with.
p.s Muches are good - more of a laugh and a bit of a drink - no need to be shy! (p.s only been to one myself so may not be the best person to give advice!)

Munches are purely a social event and are a good way of making new friends, however, I do understand they are not for everyone, and loads of people do make new firends without ever attending one. Its just that it is easier to get known that way and a lot quicker.
I can only really say what has worked for us, and that is by joining in and having a bit of a laugh with people. Why not do an introduction in the Cafe telling people a bit about you and hopefully start a bit of a conversation with someone, you never know, it just might work! I am sure that with the nice friendly approach you have shown, you will soon be enjoying yourself!

Since when have literacy skills and personal hygiene been co-dependent?
I have met several people that cannot string two words together when writing but amazingly, are able to shower on their own, put on their own deoderant, brush their own teeth, cut their own nails and are also pretty good shags too.
Conversely I have met some very errudite but smelly people who I would not wish to play with at all.
Poor spelling often tells us more about the complainers than the original writers.

My spelling is very bad on here and I do make loads of typing errors, mainly because I am too busy enjoying the fun of chatting with some really nice people. however, people in glass houses should not throw stones.......
