Partners, wait till we are back in the swing of things (godness only knows when that will be as mojo still gone awol) and come along with the gang and we can all be your hand holders wink
We went to liberties for our first visit, the reviews for newbies was good and the club had a "wine bar" feel about it. Everything the reviews say about the staff and atmosphere was true....Obviously other may have different opinions but for a 40 something couple like us Libs was ideal. We have been a couple of times now and will be back in Feb.
Hi guys!
We are going to our first club in a couple of weeks and we have chosen Vanilla! We are going with friends who have been to Liberty Elite a couple of times and they said that it is fantastic! None of us have been to Vanilla yet but i hear great things! I would advise couples to go on couples night for their first visit!, but i guess it depends what you are looking for!
Best of luck!

Looking at your location I would suggest, Cupids (Manchester), Partners (Bury)
Some clubs are more "newbie friendly" than others depending on your nerve level, clubs like Xstasia in West Brom, Liberty Elite in Lutterworth, Atlantis Evolution in Stoke on Trent all have a dress code of "nightclub attire" sexier the better, whereas some clubs have lingerie/boxers/towel policies which can be daunting to some newbies.
That said the lingerie style clubs do enhance the atmosphere inside, level the playing field because everyone is dressed similar and tend to encourage more play scenarios and the busiest, highest rated club in the UK is a "towel club".
I am sure some of the Northern clubs will have "nightclub attire" policies but I haven't been to them so cannot recommend which one is better for that, have a look in this sites CLUBS section then check with each clubs own website for dress codes.
Some clubs are licensed others have a BYOD (bring your own drink) policy, BYOD is obviously a cheaper option, few bars can compete with Asda Price lol.
The nightclub style clubs generally have play areas though some are pretty crap with more emphasis on the socialising (nowt wrong with that if thats what you want), some have a good combination of both so checking out a few clubs for what you want from the night is a worthwhile exercise. Some clubs have wet areas (jacuzzi, sauna etc some don't) so think about what you want.
There is a new book published last month which is a comprehensive guide to all UK clubs (with ratings, It is called Sex in the Cities, the author is a member of this site (not me) and if you want more information mail me for a link to his website.

Vanilla Alternative came joint second with Liberty Elite when the "Sex in the Cities" team reviewed UK clubs recently so you should have a good night
Chameleons Darlaston came first
La Chambre came 3rd
Xstasia and Infusions came joint fourth
Our place for fun came fifth
smile
Liberty elite will soon be starting a newbie/soft play night on the second Thursday of every month we think this is a fab idea as lots of people find thier first club visit a very scary thing but if you are going to a night where you know there will be others in the same situation it should make it easier! will let you know first date when they announce it
To be honest we thought Libs met our expectations, there was no pressure, the staff were friendly and helpful and we never felt iobligated to play with others, my other half won't go anywhere else lol

cupids is worth a try, give us a shout if you fancy going
We would definately recommend VA or Liberty Elite on Saturdays as ideal for first timers.
We are the authors of the book that Jed kindly mentioned and have been to all the clubs mentioned thus far above.
Hi Guys,
we are also in the same boat, we are a young 20's couple looking to try out a no pressure club. We have never done anything like this before or had a meet but the prospect excites us both.
We are in Manchester end of this month and were considering trying out Cupid's ?? does anybody have any feedback on that club ?
As mentioned above we would like to go to a club which is relaxed has a social aspect where we can ease ourselves into if when the mood catches us.
any help or advice much appreciated...
If you are looking for a club which is similar to a Night Club type of environment, the No 3 Club in chorley is worth checking out. Spotless clean, large social area but only small, limited play areas (massive couples room, but only two small private rooms if you want some privacy). Cupids is smaller in the social areas but does get a good reputation and always seems to be popular.
However, both these clubs make you 'dress down' at a certain point of the night (not sure if you have to remove your normal clothes on arrival at Cupids or if you can wear your own stuff for a while, then its down to sexy stuff for the girls, towels or shorts for the boys). That is the only thing that stops us going to either of those clubs as dont like these kind of rules being enforced on us, but they do seem popular with others so might well be worth checking them out wink

I'm guessing you might mean the end of Feb,when you say "end of this month", since there's only a couple of hours of January left??!! lol
I would recommend Cupids - I've been going there for over 10 years now and it stays good. Under new management recently too, and quite a few changes being made & some money being spent to spruce the place up.
Some nights are busier than others, obviously, but you maybe don't want the place packed to the rafters on your first night.
I can promise no pressure - the rule (as in all clubs) is that the ladies are in charge and if they don't want something to happen, then it simply doesn't happen. No further questions, your honour!
But if you DO want to play, or to get close to the action when someone else is playing, so you can enjoy the view, that's fine and you will be warmly welcomed, I'm sure!
I'd be happy to let you have more info (I've taken a few people along there over the years, who had not been anywhere like this before). Also happy to arrange to come along with you when you go, if that would help... show you the ropes & all that... (although the staff will give you a tour when you arrive).
But above all, I'd say - go for it and give it a go. Don't die wondering!!
Thanks for your reply.
Yes that's the type of thing we are looking for, we arnt keen on the "dress down" rules being enforced on us would want to do things at our own pace, i feel having such rules enforced on us would only make us more nervous sad
We have heard of a club in London called club lick which doesn't enforce those types of rules ,we were hoping for something similar in will check out the No3 club.
This may seem a silly question but we are unsure. In terms of age groups do many couples our age group (mid 20's) attend clubs ? just curious....
Thanks for your feedback smile

I'll throw in 2 other options for you Young Couple.
First off Adam & Eves in Eccles which might surprise a few people. It's a long established club which has had it's ups and downs over the years. I recently started going to this club again, late December 11 and was really surprised about the place. It's very clean, friendly and quite compact over 4 floors. There is no dress down policy, heck you can keep your coat on if you really want to, but you'll find it's warm enough...smile It seems to have a good mix of single guys, single ladies and couples, some of whom are active and some of whom aren't. It's only downside is that there isn't a smoking area, so smoking is allowed on the top floor where there is a skylight, though late in the night you find that smoking does take place in the reception/bar area too, so if your totally anti smoking then that could be a problem. The club has 2 private lockable rooms otherwise it's open. Currently I'd actually say this is one of the better manchester clubs though I haven't been to No 3.
Outside of Manchester try Xtasia in West Brom, theres actually a Swinging Heaven party there at the end of May (Check it out in Club Forums). This club definately doesn't have a dress down policy,it's a wear what you want thats smart casual for guys and ladies, well wear whatever best suits your mood, though it always surprises me when the odd lady wears trousers to this particular venue...:) The club has a large dance floor, a large couples only room and a large mixed area, with good additional things like the Feel Free Box and The Dark Room with Fridays being mixed nights and Saturdays couples only. The mix of people are young like you to older like me...:) Personally if i was taking a lady for the first time to a club, and not having seen every club in the country, Xtasia on a SH party night is definately the one I would go to.
Best of luck anyway and have fun.

But again, this club enforces the dress down rule. We tried it once and as you go in, you are directed to the changing area to get your clothes off, as a result of this, we have not been since and stick with Partners where you do have a choice.
Also, Adam & Eves (and I understand is the same at Cupids) there is no where safe to leave vaulables or the clothes you have taken off. You do have an area to hang them and I have never heard of anyone having anything taken, but they dont provide lockers for your clothes etc (however, the owners will provide an envelope for you to seal any small valuables and those are kept safely behind the bar).

Xstasia is about an hour n a half to two hours (busiest section of motorway in europe to negotiate) away from Manchester, half an hour away and just off the M6 is Atlantis which is a "nightclub attire" club and very newbie friendly, social areas are all downstairs and play areas upstairs which means you can just dance or chat without going near to the action but if you want to see what is going on there is a lounge area upstairs too, there are also private lockable rooms in case watching makes you horny and you fancy some fun by yourselves.
Also Xstasia is one of those clubs that advertise "paid girls" on site to take care of men, which is cool with some but also something you should be aware of in case it's not for you.

Can't comment on Adam & Eves, but at Cupids they give you a decent-sized plastic box for valuables (ice cream tub size) which is big enough for a big purse or wallet, keys, phones, cash, etc. This is kept securely behind the bar and you have to exchange your wristband to get it back during the night or as you leave. Works well. Yes, clothes need to be hung up in the changing room, but they have many "open locker" type spaces for these, so you keep your clothes separate from other peoples' and shoes, etc go in there as well. I've never heard that the last person to leave ends up going home in someone else's clobber!! lol
As for the dress down rule... I've seen some men in shorts sometimes, rather than just a towel, and plenty of ladies will chose to wear a bikini or s sexy outfit of some sort, as opposed to just underwear or nothing... at least to begin with!!

Just picking up on the points you made NWC.
First off I have been to Partners and I agree with you it's a good club, but unless it's changed since i was last there (sometime ago I would add), you can stay dressed so long as you stay in the main reception area of the club but if you start to wander through the club for example through the maze etc, I thought you had to get changed first.
At A&E, your right, the lockers are open, theres a single guys changing area on 1st floor and a sepearte couples/single ladies changing area right by the reception. Any valuables you have are handed over to Reception and kept in shall we call it ice cream tubs but i think they rae better than that, maybe sandwich boxes,,,smile The same would be true of handbags and your booze too. I have to say the last 2 times I have been to A&E I sat chatting at the bar fully dressed for about an hour, and even went and watched some football on TV fully dressed before getting changed to go through the rest of the club. I would defo agree that if your going to go around the club you definately have to get changed first.
I'm not particularly affiliated to any club, they all have different merits, but based on recent attendance at A&E after giving it a miss for a couple of years I have to say I'm quite impressed with the changes that have taken place there.

Hi Midscouple,
Well first off, let me agree with you, Atlantis is a wonderful club, though I have only been once for the SH party. The reason I haven't been back is I'm not sure how accomodating it is to single guys, it has a real feel of being a couples club, but if you think different well I'm more than happy to try it out again. My memory of the place was it was really lovely, great music, mix of dressed and undressed people throughout the club, really nice upstairs too and if it has a downfall it was tring to park the car. I know you guys are big supporters of Atlantis too, and I don't blame you, it is a little gem.
Xtasia, I agree is a bit of a trek on a Friday night from Wirral where I live, but I often stay over at the Premier Inn which is right next door. It is worth the journey though and it is a much bigger club than Atlantis but that isn't always good. Most people in the bar/dance area are dressed in nightclub or very sexy nightclub attire and you have to choose to go into the play areas if you want to watch or take part in things. As for "paid girls" I'm really not sure about that, though I do know that outside of the actual hours the club is open for swinging they do have paid shows with girls taking on whatever they do, I've never been to one as it isn't part of the actual swinging night. The ladies and couples I have met in Xtasia I would say would be similar to yourselves in that they go to the club to do whatever they wish to do whether that be socialise only through to all the variations that swinging in a club can have, and that those ladies/couples aren't paid...there again maybe I'm being naive.
In short I think you make a good call over Atlantis and that A&E and Xtasia have their own merits and attractions that all can enjoy
Quote by ukmale421

It was a few months ago when we tried it, so cant comment on the changes that have a taken place, but we both thought it was by far one of the friendliest places we have ever been to. Both the staff and customers, most of which we had never met previously, seemed to go out of their way to make us feel welcome.
As you say, all clubs have their own merits and we all want different things from clubs, so what suits one couple/person, wont suit another. Plus it would be very boring if we all liked the same thing wink
For a young couple in their twenties, we would have recommended either
Atlantis Evolution, good young crowd, very popular since the new owners took over
Xtasia - Good crowd, especially on SDC nights, can be fun, it needs a bit of a re-think, but it still a good club.
We know Adam and Eves and Cupids have their fans, but can't agree that these are good first choices for a young couple, unless they are confident around large numbers of single men.
We just think you will have a better time at a club which has somewhere you can actually dance as well as chat, and play if you get around to that, and which will have a higher proportion of people you're own age or nearer to it, as well as more couples than singles and neither of those clubs can claim to be ticking those boxes in any realistic fashion when compared to the others that have been suggested including the two we mentioned here.
It is worth going the extra mile or 50 miles for a good club, than popping round the corner to go to one that won't be to you're liking. Give it some thought about what you want from the evening before you go, but you kind of spelled it out above already so we're pointing you to clubs that will certainly give you what you want.

Guys thank you all very much for your feedback and input, it really is invaluable....
We have done our own research too an we think Xstaia and possibly No3 club look like ones we may try. Watched the video tour for Xstasia and it looks like a big place with plenty of variety (shame its so far away). We haven't looked into Atlantis Evoloution as yet but after your positive reviews its now on the list..
We are in Manchester end of the month so ideally we would like to visit a nearby club (its our anniversary), but i guess we could always make a dedicated trip to find the right club for us....
The other option of course is to invite a couple / single to our hotel but we feel this my be more nerve racking than a club ?
For us we dont really want tooo many singles (males) mainly couples with a relaxed atmosphere where you have the option as to what you want to do with your night. The best way i can describe our ideal scenario would be a nightclub style club with extras biggrin

Thats Xtasia then lol
I have another social night at Xtasia on Friday 25th May (club meets)
If you use the chatrooms on here (esp the pool), you will have probably spoken
to most of the nutters that attend.
You can either chat/drink/dance the night away or go and explore. (or you could do all 4)
Whatever you decide, have a great time

Xtasia socials are the best imao. I've done plenty of 3 of Bambi's suggestions but none of the other. Looking to redress this in May...
