COVID-19: Lets be sensible here

Hi everyone,

Worryingly we’ve been receiving reports of users still attempting to arrange meets with other Site members.  

Let’s be very clear here:  under the current conditions THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE! 

Government policy on the matter is very unambiguous:

Stay at home

• Only go outside for food, health reasons or work (but only if you cannot work from home)
• If you go out, stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people at all times
• Wash your hands as soon as you get home

Do not meet others, even friends or family.

You can spread the virus even if you don’t have symptoms.

Using the excuse that you’re a key worker (yes, we’ve seen that one!) does NOT exclude you from the above. It’s not a free pass.  In fact, as a key worker you have an extra duty of care on top of the above. Being in a position to travel and be in contact with others makes you more likely to contract and pass on the disease.

Defo no meets till this crazy shit has passed                 

Some other sites we are on, are saying,..If you try and seeks meets during this lockdown and Coronavirus crisis, we will see this as a break of the current site rules and we will ban or suspend your account....I don't know, because I have not seen it, If Swinging Heaven have issued a current Coronavirus update of what is expected of it's members during this epidemic.

Anyone looking to meet in the current circumstances must have a screw loose... 

i work in healthcare

in the last 5 days i have lost 2 patients

the people i work with rarely go out, yet its spreading like wildfire

ill make this really plain

if you meet someone, that isnt living in your family home, then you run the risk of catching this virus, and potentilaly passing it on to thousands of people

just fucking stay in, do as you have been asked, the sooner you do this then the sooner this will be over

I completely agree with what you have said, there are some stupid people out there

.... and let's not forget that once the Covid19 issue has mercifully subsided, all the usual nasties are still out there with plenty of people willing to take all sorts of risks just to get their end away.  Are these people more worried about Covid19 than HIV, hepatitis C, drug resistant STD's etc etc. all of which can, for the most part, be avoided by applying just a little common sense.

Well said. I cancelled a meet two weeks ago and it was the first one in months and it was very disappointing. This crisis will show us who people really are.

On the subject of being sensible, I do wish some of those who are out and about for good reason would decide not to form their queues right across the pavement.  There's no shortage of vacant queueing space along all the closed up shop fronts and absolutely no need to force passers by to have to walk in the road to maintain a safe distance.

We just had another idiot message us asking to meet today!!  I have reported and blocked him. Why are some people so selfish and stupid?

I joined this site to meet and make new friends, so until we are given the go ahead, I for one will not be meeting until it's safe.

Stay home, stay safe, I shall be clapping the NHS and emergency services and others at 8 pm tonight.

I think I shall start naming and shaming and reporting anyone who is daft enough to want to meet during this corona virus.

Yeah weve had loads of messages from guys that havent read the meet listings for a VR meet properly and then getting abusive when weve said were not meeting in person atm, its pretty crazy.

 Yeah, theyd have to change the sites Ts and Cs and offer a refund but it could be done

I applaud the principle of wanting to stay safe all round but you might want to be a bit careful about "naming and shaming" its directly against the site rules.

I don't think there is a need for the site to issue a direct comment on the current situation- the Government has already done so- if its not essential to travel; STAY AT HOME! 

As much as I'm sure we all feel meets are exciting and even important, they certainly aren't essential, so I'd expect everyone to follow the rules set out by the government to keep us ALL safe.

  Best bet is to post in the dogging part of the forum or strike up  convo with someone local in a main chat room (unsolicited PMs are a bad idea) that has that as an interest. Youre unlikely to get much help in this covid related post. (But stranger things have happened around here!) Best of luck
