we have been on the club scene for a few yrs now but just of late they seem to be empty
is a club you visit busy and on what days ?
this info could be of use to us all as the price of travelling and entrance fees membership etc are not worth it if clubs are empty
go on spill the beans on your local clubs lol
Down south, I think the clubs are less busy. It could be less money around, people cutting back or more likely, the clubs aren't trying hard enough or investing enough in unique swinging experiences... clubs in the midlands and the north west have in m view always had much better environments, more innovative with better and more diverse rooms and play areas... and I'm from Essex so northern bias here x lol
well said didnt want to be the first to say it tho clubs like chameleons and xtasia seem to have it about right only done those two at the mo tho
Liberty Elite in Lutterworth is a great club as well and whenever we go is busy.
Although we do goto Xtasia and Chameleons as well and on chosen nights are busy.
not been to libertys yet but it is on our to visit list lol
I've found Xtasia to be a bit hit and miss on a Friday night throughout the summer, without any question the busiest nights there have been the SH meets in May and September.
Cupids in Manchester has been fairly busy when I've visited of a weekend and I'm off to the Atlantis Evolution bash this Friday which looks like it may be packed to the rafters.
In general though i'd agree that clubs do seem less busy than they were 1 to 2 years ago
i have been going to chams for 4/5 years and i havnt seen it get less busy at all
obviously there are sometimes that are always less busy than other times due to who is allowed in etc
i actually prefer to go when its quieter tho anyway and especially on saturday afternoon when theres a biger ratio of single (bi) men to cpls which is what we prefer smile
There is no doubt that the clubs have been hit hard by the recession,
When we first started work on the book two years, compared to when I up dated the book recently before it finally goes to print, no less than twenty venues in the UK had closed and it all needed updating. The same goes across the rest of Europe.
However the clubs that reinvest, care about their customers and listen to their comments are clearly the most sucessful.
When Liberty Elite first opened under the name Liberations, the previous owners didnt have a club what worked in the UK and the club very nearly died. The new owners, Colin and Gina quickly rebranded the club, and also within six months reinvested money into the venue, enlarged the dance floor and added more play rooms and they targeted a certain kind of group. They are not the only club to do this, Chams also had a major refurb, and even though the two clubs are very different and attract different crowds, several people enjoy them both for different reasons. This is one of the reasons that in our top 5 clubs in the UK, Liberty is number one and Chameleons is number 2.
Despite the economic down turn, a number of new clubs have opened in the last two years, but as the markert now is so fiercly competitive, everyone has to up their game and no one can afford to let their standards drop. La Chambre had some major issues on our last visit and now, very wisely they have made some changes which have seen their numbers come back up. Reinvestment is key, at the end of the day, a club is only as good as the people that attend it. And you have to know what those people want and make sure you give it to them. You will know when the book is out because there will be banners for it all over this site.
