If you are still looking for a place to stay you could always try the Botel on the canal next to Central station.
When we have stayed in Amsterdam (4 to 5 times a year) we have been fortunate to find a 5star hotel at the price of a 2 to 3 star, usually booked about a week before we go, unfortunately being a large party they probably won't discount that many rooms!
The best area for choice and variety to eat is in the Leidseplein area

The Amstel botel is also worth looking at for accomadation,spitting distance from central station and the red light district,tis about £60 for a double room ( waterside) with buffet breakfast which is a real feast,(plenty of hot stuff as well as continental cold)also the fantastic floating chinese restaraunt is just along the quay from it.

A word of advice. We have just spent a lovely couple of days in Amsterdam. We went to Paradise Club and stayed for exactly 15 minutes. We went to get changed and couldn't find any towels for Mr Redbird to wear. We were told that the policy is to wear underpants in the club. As Mr Redbird wasn't wearing any under his jeans we had to go. What a waste!

I have emailed Fun4Two to reserve places for the Saturday night and was told that reservations can only be made a week before the date you wish to attend. They also stated that they admit no single men on any account at any time.
We may need to find an alternative club to visit where all of us can be admitted........ someone call McCloggie and get him working on it ... lol

There are a couple of clubs in Amsterdam which allow in single men on a Sat. night. We went to Candy club once, not very big but you get some free beer with your admission fee. Don't have to pre-book either.
When we meet up in Amsterdam remind us to tell the story about the Spike Milligan look-alike at the Candy club. Corker!!!
We will probably go to fun4two on the Sunday evening, but that is certainly couples only. But if we have gone all the way to Holland, be a shame not to go there.
