I never thought I would get to meet a great couple from even further away than you but I did, so be patient you can never tell when paths will cross.
Talking of strange people you had better beware of me, I'm strange lol

Well I'm back from the canal :!:
Mixed bag of weather but nevertheless enjoyable all the same.
Thanks to those that made contact smile and to those that said they would but didn't, oh dear sad confused
That is something I have always fancied doing, a boating holiday, slower pace of life, time to take in the views etc etc but knowing little or nothing about the technicalities, maybe I am safer staying away.
Hope you had a good time biggrin
I did Northwich to Oxford in 8 days

To me, that means absolutely nothing, as I said I am totally ignorant to the delights of a narrow boat holiday. Is that quick, or is that slow? Anyway, hope you enjoyed your 8 days and Master55, sorry for the Hijack biggrin

No probs Wigan..you can hijack me anytime of the day or night :!: wink
I can see no reason to charge about on the canals...defeats the object.
Different pace of life......taking things easy.......stopping at canal side hostelries and eating houses...having friends on board.....watching the wildlife etc etc etc
( justwondering...can i cum to the Wigan munch...never been to one before....Ginger..Naughty, now there's a thought :!: :!:   )
Sorry master 55
I used to live aboard my boat and it was great fun, as for the charging around I had to get it to Oxford before the Closures.
Happy Swinging and The Cut

It can take a day just to get through Wigan! You have a HUGE flight of very daunting locks. Not very relaxing at all.
But normally it's wonderful. And the technicalities don't really take long to master.

Does it have a pier confused: Never been to the place myself. Hold on, what do you mean pier, its inland!! And I possibly cycled through it in 1999 en route from Lands End to John O'Groats.
Think it would be better if NWC explains this one :giggle: or you can google smile

I googled. I'd rather save the money towards going to a club with our wonderful up north friends.
Thanks Him and Her, and yes Harry we do have a pier, not the same as the one in Blackpool or the one in Brighton, but we do have a pier! We also have our own 'The Way We Were' centre where you can go along and find out all about the History of Wigan (including a day in school, with the Teacher having their own cane incase you are naughty)
The pier is/was a piece of wood which stuck out over the canal, so as the Master55 sails past, we can sit on the end (of the pier) fishing and give him a wave on his way past lol
Thanks for that, but I'd like to think if I ever come up that way I will be far too busy to go to tourist places :!:

You'd be suprised what you can do at the end of Wigan Pier  but then again, it was only two foot long and has now been demolished, so we will have to find somewhere else to take you (Im sure there will be some real ale pubs for you)!

Bit of history now folks :!: .........Wigan Pier is on the southern side of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal and was a tramway tippler where colliery waggons were pushed to the edge of the canal and coal tipped into waiting boats.
