Norwich - the Book Club solution.

There have been quite a few posts from people bemoaning the lack of action in Norwich. Attempts to set up 'mini-munches' have come to nothing and the 'Norfolk Spontaneous Sex Team' has dropped way down the lists. I think one of the reasons is the size of the place - if you live and/or work here you can seldom go out without seeing someone you know. If, like me, you need to keep your SH activities private this makes things difficult.
There is a group which meets regularly in Norwich (recently mistaken by a SH member as a SH munch) but they are not discrete. They will move from pub to pub in full fetish/Ann Summers gear. I'm not saying they shouldn't - just that many of us can't risk exposure that way.
So I got to thinking - if I was seen out with a group of strangers what would I say? And I thought "Book Club". So what if we arranged a pub and a night to meet but it ISN'T a Munch. We dress in a way that doesn't give us away. We bring a book! We meet - we chat - and obviously if connections are made we take it from there. It wouldn't be a private booking (no pun intended) - just a drink in a pub. I would be the co-ordinator.
Waddaya think?
Mods : I know this belongs in Let's Meet Up but posts disappear very quickly there. Us Naarfolk types are a bit slow - all those tractors we have to wait behind on the way home - so if it could stay here for a while I'd be grateful.
Jezzay.
Yes, an excellent idea, Jo. I'd be up for that.
Well, this seems a very good idea, although like Jezzay says Norwich is a very small place, everywhere you turn, there is somebody you bloody know, i have only been here a couple of years, and i am still getting used to how small it is, especially after living in the bright lights of london!!! Anyway, back to the book club suggestion, sounds good, and should cover our tracks!!!, unless we all chooose the Karma Sutra, as our first book!!! lol. I will defintly be intersted in becoming a member of this fine team!!!
Take care all!!
I look forward to the first team meeting!!! lol
xx
Well, that's four of us so far. It's a start.
Any ideas on what the first book should be?

How about some Dickens?
lol
Hullo everyone!
I am afraid I am one of the guilty ones, bemoaning the quietness of Norwich! lol
I have only been here a matter of months, and can still be frequently found in London. Yet, I would love the opportunity to meet you all at some future time! The idea of a book club sounds intriguing & a good idea.
I haven't seen the group you were referring to Jezzay, but I will now keep my peepers peeled!
Look forward to hearing more about the clubs development!
Hope to speak to you again soon!
Erlund.
Yes i am another Norwich connection interested in this idea. Coordinator keep me posted on progress

kind regards,
Tim
Sounds good to me...
Will be glad of some further information / arrangements.
Ta!
Wooh - great response so far.
As to what book - I thought we should each bring a book which says a little about ourselves. For instance Mal69 (were he from Norwich) would bring "The Dangerous Gentleman", Fabio G. would bring "Black Beauty". (Did you like that one, Sean?)
I am concerned about the gender ratio. It would be a bit daft - though great for me! - if there were a dozen gentlemen book-clutchers and only me. So can I ask all interested to PM me with their gender alignment of choice. I'm not planning to exclude people but I just wouldn't go ahead if it was going to be predominantly male.
Poohbear - PM me with best evenings for you.
Jezzay.
What a great idea.
I vote for "The way through the woods" by Colin Dexter, referring to my exploits by bicycle and car.
Depending on when it is, how much money I can scrape by would love to join you.
Just in case it isn't apparent from my name and numerous posts - I am Male.
Regards
Harry Jones
Just thought I'd bump this up, so that it doesn't get missed by any latecomers...
I am well up for it! - Norwich is so lame at the moment on the swinging front... getting a bit fed up with driving out of the county to meet couples!
Keep me posted
Jx
Great Idea, but I am another male who is interested, maybe you could invite a set number of males to each meet, so that men do alternate weeks? Just an idea.
Anyway, I would like an invite if you go ahead. Always wanted to join a book club anyhow!
An excellent idea. I would love to sign up when more information is available smile

I did like that one..... black beauty is also a good comparison because i am hung like a horse....(or should that be hampster) smile
I am glad your book club evening is coming on well.... if it goes well the next event can be an evening out at the theatre.... I am sure you'll be able to find one or two have a production of "godspell" on.... :) :) biggrin :D

Just back on line after fault on computer & saw this posting.
I agree with you about the lack of response in Norwich.
I have several ads on & have also answered several.
A lot have answered but have been time wasters & onesI have answered have not been in touch ( although I met everything they asked for.) I would love to meet at your book club. Count me in & let me know where & when.
I think that Norwich people are to shy & also if they think it`s going to cost them money they don`t want to know. They are as tight as their pussies when it comes to spending money.
Sounds good to me too.
I'm also a male 50 Y/O and boed with little or no action in the fine city of Norwich, maybe a book club meet somewhere close to Norwich? on the coast or where ever would attract more females or couples who dont want to be recognised close to where they live and work?
I'm up for it please PM or e-mail me if you get it off the ground.

Hi Brian,
That was the original point. If we're not dressed as 'vicars and tarts' or whatever and one or two of us ARE carrying books then it doesn't matter who sees you.
There is enough interest to go ahead I think. I'm trying to take peoples' date preferences into account but it would be good if we have it mid or late September, a Wednesday or Thursday.
Should I ask a mod to make it a sticky do you think? Then we don't need to worry about 'bouncing' it. I don't have any experience of arranging SH socials - don't want to break any rules!!
Oh and my book? I'll put it in a PM along with the venue and a password (which shouldn't really be needed). I have an idea for a venue but any other suggestions happily received BUT BY PM ONLY please.
Jezzay.
Put me down as a possible please Jezzay - a mid week evening might work quite good for me at the moment and I plenty of books with Dragons on so that I can be identified.
If it works out maybe you'll consider moving it around and helping out us lincolnshire folks as well.
Roger the Dragon. cool
You'll be bringing a book called walk tall then Roger! lol
Please put my name down for an invite. Love to meet you all.
Let me know when. Love to you all biggrin
By the look of the respoces so far seem to be a lack of females? with this in mind and it looking like I could be to oldest one at the book meet should I bring a DIY book?

Ha Ha Brian
Sounds like a mightly fine idea to me my dear, count me in please.
I'll PM you too
I'll be bringing the book 'All Night Long - How to Make Love to a Man over 50' just for you Brian wink
Hello NorfolkBBW
It will be nice to meet you, our paths having crossed in another thread before now.
I'm just wondering if I ought to reveal my true colours and bring my favourite book, Roger Protz Britain's 500 Best Pubs, Nahh Way through the woods is much more appropriate and lighter to carry.

Yup! I think the time has come to set a date and I think it should be... errrmmmm....... some - thing - beginning - withhhhhh...... doubleyew!
Wednesday 14th September. Howzzat.
Most of the interested people have posted here but there are one or two more who PMd me. I just want to check out a pub and then I shall send individual PMs out giving the location and a list of all the interested parties.
I reserve the right to say 'No' from now on just in case the number of single guys shoots up. Yes, we do have more guys than girls but I still think it will be nice just to get together and put names to faces, make real contacts.
