I'm part of the old Wednesday night out crowd and manchester social circle too! 
So if you want any help or advice , just wing me a PM and I'll help out if you want me to with whatever I can.
First bit of advice, you won't please everyone all the time, so pick the day, pick the place and state whether it's social only or playtime...

Same here -- if you want any advice Mark and Nicky, feel free to PM. If you plan to do a social in Manchester, I've organised about 3 billion of them so I might be of some use

social meet seems to be the order of the day, but i will be contacting a club and seeing if we can hijack it for the night if people so wish, also looking into possibl accom although clubs with accom iss being discussed.

Be careful with your dates as the social calendar is already quite full between now and xmas, believe it or not.....when u have a date in question or dates, if u want to let me know by pm, i can tell you if it/they clash with any already planned events that i am aware of...

Time scale varies really depending on how big you want your event to be. If you want to do a mid week social that's dead informal --- friends meeting in a pub and having a good laugh etc, then 2 or 3 weeks in advance is fine... just enough time for people to book a hotel, babysitters or whatever. But if you want to do something a bit bigger, get more people attending, at weekend, you need to post quite a few weeks in advance really, especially as the social calender is very full anyway. It's all down to what you want, who you think might be wanting to come (seems like quite a few
), and where you plan to have it, and of course what you feel comfortable with really. :P
