I’m thinking about organising a social in Shrewsbury. If enough people interested then I can look at booking somewhere soon but just sounding out if anyone would be up for one in this quiet shire.

I applaud your effort to arrange an event, however these type of threads rarely match the actual attendees. Firstly you haven't given a date, so those who say yes now, may have conflicting events on the date you eventually choose. Secondly, you haven't given any idea of what type of social you're thinking of. And thirdly, they may post in here a 'yes' then forget about checking back to see if the event is actually going ahead if you leave the thread running too long without setting a date.
if you can organise an event, scope out a venue, speak to them first to see if they can take do what you are hoping, then post up a date and what is involved. That way your replies will be more genuine to the event. If you don't commit to it, neither will anyone else.
