I'm Just trying to find out how much real interest there is in this munch
Please select option that would suit you best
Looks like Plymouth in lead at moment. Anyone local know of good location ?
Sorry short post having to use mobile to do then
would just like to point out that an extra hour in the car could reap benefits in other ways, not all venues are equal, some being better in their convenience for after social meet partying. I am of course assuming that this discussion is about a sw social meet and not a munch, as we are all aware of the rules regarding discussions about after munch activities. lol
Probably not an hour extra, just guessing, prob less than half an hour. lol

As at the time of this post we have 16 people interested in this activity.
2 Exeter
6 Plymoth
7 Bristol
1 Other ?
Assuming this is social meet maybe discussion on the merits of location venue would persuade some to change so we can all meet in one place
I see Plymouth has the majority vote, out of Exeter or Plymouth for a meet. No probs there biggrin
Can any of the people that voted for a meet in Plymouth let me know of a suitable venue in the area? Or even take on the task of arranging something down there. Otherwise at the moment I can only go with what I have had a chance to see in Exeter.
We need to get a place and date arranged soon.
A munch in the South West would be a great idea......and we've cast our vote. We would just like to make a request, and an observation....
Please, please, please not the 20th.
The observation? The Bank Holiday weekend could be a good time - people could make a weekend of it. But the M5 at busy times does not sound an enthralling prospect at all for any of us from further up the UK banghead
Stuart & Tanina hump xxx
very intrested in swest munch so please keep us updated if it goes ahead
The average number of weekend visitors from the Midlands that stay in caravan parks near Weston-S-Mare & Brean Sands is 875 each and every weekend throughout the year! ( Source local newspaper)
Exeter is only one hour away!! Would it not be worth the extra time for you people in Birmingham & surrounding districts?

no offence... but people from ALL OVER the country try to go to support munches... so obviously the further south west you go.. the more people you alienate.....
i only suggested bristol in the first place is that it give people down both the M4 and M5 corridor a chance to go....plus it would probabaly be easier to get hotels... people in plymouth, exeter and surrounds will be as encouraged to go as much as those from newport, cardiff and swansea ect........
Living in St Austell it stands to reason we would prefer Plymouth as the venue for a SW munch, but no matter where it is held we would deffo try to attend, after all we did travel to the NW munch last aug biggrin
The only disadvantage we can see for a munch being held down this way is the `after munch activities' for those that would like to erm lets say see more of the people they have met wink

Any of the area's mentioned would have been fine for us, but sadly we can't make it during August as I'm booked to go back to hospital for another op then sad
However, it this munch goes ahead and is a success, maybe you'd think about having another one at some point and then we can maybe make the next :P
Tracy-Jayne
Ah Shame your going to miss it RedHot sad
Hope your Op goes well biggrin
Maybe we could turn the Exeter / Plymouth meet, into a monthly / bimonthly meet, then if your down this way you could come along :D
Devon1
Have decided Saturday August 13th is the date of the meet.
I need to know of a Plymouth venue if as the poll says, most folk would rather go there, than Exeter. So let me have your ideas for where in Plymouth.
Otherwise i shall have to go ahead with the Exeter venue.
Please keep an eye on this, and the southwest munch thread, and feel free to make comments. Hopefully constructive ones biggrin

hang on... are we looking at the same poll here
isn't bristol taking up half of the votes that have been polled confused :? :? :? :?
so you just decided to spin it whichever way you wanted you... no offence but isn't that just like saying " thanks for everyone who voted...... but in reality none of this matters because i have decided to do what i want to do!!"
what was the point in voting... not that i did.. i would have voted for bristol but you have made if perfectly clear that you are not listing anyway
I was wondering who's organising it anyway - the poll was started by UKMike and Devon1 seems to be sorting venues? 33 isn't many anyway - that's how many have voted.
Hey Fabio mate chill out, no offence meant. I had posted the info originally on the other thread, re the meet aimed at the Exeter/ Plymouth end, nothing to do with you Bristol lot biggrin
In case no one from our straw munching end had caught what I said on there, thought I would repeat it on this thread too.
Having spoke to ukmike and others via PM, we are just trying to get something going, so i'm not pinching, or trying to hog anything, I have even offered to opt out the whole meet arranging idea if someone else more experienced came forward, but no one did sad
So give us less experienced meet / munch types a chance eh!
Anyway I want to come to your Munch :D
Very cross Puss here. Devon1 is the only person to physically try to organise this and he did state very early on he would not be able to arrange a Bristol Munch. Following that we did suggest a SW social, not a munch, which he is arranging as no one else has come forward. I think he is entitled to name location and date and I certainly support him in his choice of location and date. If anyone else can do better, please do so.
Would also like to mention that Devon1 did not post poll.
I take it you had every intention of attending, Fabio, and if so perhaps you could find someone who is willing and able to arrange a munch at a location of your's or majority's choice. Looking forward to the Bristol munch. Good luck with the planning.
You, of course, are still welcome to attend our SW social.
Puss Grrrrrr! mad

there were other people looking at the logistics and trying to hold a bristol munch..
If we are no saying that Ukmike and devon1 had no intention of hold this in bristol why bother putting it in the options????

Puss Grrrrrr! :x

you know what....I will still try to make this.... logistically for me we are talking about about 1,000 + mile roads trip for me personally, but i will try to support ANY sh event, work and health permitting... :x i have been up to glasgow, i have been down to winchester, across to wigan, and been proud to hold one in my city when no one else would do it!!!!
to be honest i still think you are missing a trick... this could have been the first munch/social that would have not only been convieient for not only the south west.... but for alot of people in wales (newport, swansea, cardiff and places to the north, people in oxford, reading, cheltenham, gloucester ect ect ect.......) a lot of people can and will travel, a lot of people can't....
sean xxxxxx
Do not know why Bristol was put in options, not even sure it was a joint poll between ukmike and devon1 or whether it was even discussed. As far as I knew Devon1 was arranging this as no one else has volunteered to do so. If he is only person to volunteer and cannot arrange it for Bristol, as stated at beginning of thread, why bother voting Bristol unless the people voting are willing to arrange it?
Thank you for your interest, and I look forward to meeting you and the rest of the SH folk, whether they be from the SW or not.
Hope I've not offended anyone by my last post, just feel that this is going nowhere fast unless someone else steps in and can organise Bristol. If not, Devon1 is doing his best
and surely a smaller SW get together wherever for whoever can possibly attend is better than nothing at all. rolleyes

Sean what are you getting pissed about dunno So some can travel and some can't, that will always be the case where ever munches are held rolleyes
We drove 150 miles to Sussex for a couple of drinks and back again getting home at am the other night and ONLY met 7 people that we did not already know  Yet we never went to the Manchester Sparkle event or the Yorks Munch because it never suited us for child care reasons :dunno:
These kind people are willing to arrange a munch so people can meet each other which is the most important point. If it turns out not to be a big munch because of the area, does that matter?
Sean if you don't like the decisions Devon1 is making then leave well alone mad
Think a social would be a small but sensible first step for some of the SW folk to get to know each other, chat about lifestyle, gain some experience and perhaps confidence thus enabling them to take a more involved part in SH forums and future get togethers wherever they may be. biggrin
what should have been a great idea feel as if its causing a row.
i dont want to sound like a arkward bitch but... i cant speek for outside of cornwall but getting anywhere in cornwall is a nightmare, roads, public transport, low wages etc etc.
having lived in birmingham, outside of london etc i know that isa a hell of a lot easier to get about.
ive had the feeling that those people in devon/cornwall have felt isolated from the whole S/H community due to our isolated location. therefore was pleased to see a social/ munch call it what you want was going to be happening this neck of the woods.
I know alot of you have attended munches far and wide, and understand that you would try to attend this, however does it not completely go against the objective of devon and cornwall members meeting if due to it being held in bristol no one from this area can attend??
I hope you dont all think we ( cornwall and devon ppl) are lazy or cant be bothered to put in the effort by driving to bristol, personally that isnt the case.
Maybe this should be a social and not a munch, if that makes it easier??? then if there is the turn out and people feel more confident then there will be more socials, and if someone from bristol wants to step up and arrange a bristol munch then that would suit those from further up the line?
Please dont let this divide the members to the extent i feel could happen. But support those taking the time to arrange a plymouth / exeter social.
sorry if this offends anyone

I can kind of see both sides here... I think Sean is simply saying that a Bristol Munch would attract a larger crowd, would be easier to get to and was in the poll as a an option.
On the other hand, Devon1 is offering to organise a social in the SW..which is a fantastic start.
a certain amount of confusion maybe due to there being two threads regarding the South West...
I have been thinking about whether to hold a mini-munch / social here in North Yorkshire and would it be viable. So have been watching this debate with interest. The only thing that I can add to the debate is the date of the munch is crucial. Not too near a "big" SH event, either just before or just after, as people may be broke or be planning on spending the money on hotels etc for the upcoming Munch. I know it'd be a consideration for me.
Anyhows, I will try and make it, but like Sean, it would involve a massive round trip... (saying that, I just clocked 1000 miles on my car in under a week, partly due to the West Sussex social.. lol
Bristol still gets my vote everytime.... its so convenient for air, rail and road travel.... even the odd helicopter or two...... lol
But seriously..... if there are two South West Munches arranged.... thats fine.... two more occasions when all of us can get together......
There is no North/South divide except in your imaginations.......

HI Folks
Have decided to start a new thread for the Devon / Cornwall, social / pub meet.
This is because there seemed to be some confusion between those wanting a Bristol Munch, and our meet.
Our get together is on sat. , in either Exeter or Plymouth. Venue to be confirmed in the next few days. Feel free to come, it shall be near suitable accomodation for those wishing to travel biggrin
For further info, here is the link to the thread for the Devon / Cornwall meet:
http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/swingers-forum/viewtopic/48587.html
Please continue to vote on ukmike's poll
And the ppl who wanted Bristol as a venue?
is there a thread for us still running?
as can be seen, there was alot of confusion on this subject.
devon1 stepped up and said he would arrange a meet in plymouth or exeter if there was the intrest, couldnt do bristol as he does not live close enough.
there is obviously enough people that wanted a bristol munch/ meet so i guess it will require one of those intrested parties to start a thread and being organising one.
of course everyone would be welcome to the devon/cornwall one as is normally the case with any meet.
