very interested but dont know anyone in mids room..... what do I do now? lol
like i have said, we ARE interested, but i assume a lot of people like us will be unable to say they definately want to come, untill they are given definate prices and details.
i dont think it is a case of people being doubting of you or looking to rubbish your idea, its just that noone wants to comit to something till they are sure it will suit them.
maybe a good idea would be to work out an "acceptable" number of people.
then work out the cost and other details by this figure.
200 people at £30 each (6k) sounds ok to budget a big party on, but if for example only 80 people turned up that would mean the guests paying £75 each in ording to cover the same costs. a lot of couples might not be able to afford £150 for a night out.
maybe it would work out better if you stated that the party would only go ahead with say a minimum of 140 people and then cost it according to that.
IF you then had more turn up, its a bonus for everyone to pay a little less.
things like transport are a good idea too for all the people who normally have to drive, but by when would you know if that was possible?
also, the accomodation, would it be bring your own sleeping bags type of accom? or a bed suplied in with the price of entry?
beds for 200 people seems a big feat, hats off to you for sorting it!
things like that determine how much people would be prepared to pay.
i hope you dont take this the wrong way, people are just trying to clarify things.
and i am sure you understand that no one wants to comit to something and part with their hard earned cash untill they know its ok.
Hi .. can you put me down plz .. well not put me down but add me to the list plz.
Thanx

I think it's a huge responsibility and I hope you manage to pull it off ( pardon the pun rolleyes ) I'm sure there will be loads of members local to you that will be willing to lend a hand so you can delegate tasks. I'm a bit far away from you to be of much help but will do so on the night if needed.
Why not speak to someone who's already held an event of this scale and get their advice?
I'm all for coming along, paying what I need to ( within reason of course ) but I wouldn't want to have to supplement any costs incurred by those who say yes and don't turn up.
Good luck hunni

Awww shucks sad
btw P Horny Male. If you want to meet someone to 'interact with' as you so delicately put it, why not start your own thread?
oooh ooh that sounds like great fun. deffinalty count us in!!!

RIGHT.....this is the swingers masked ball thread for 10/11 february...any other thread has nothing what so ever to do with us.
Cost...to be NO more than £30 per head
Venue decided...just waiting for confirmation of price...
entertainment provisionally booked....some at cost and some free
Transportation.....we can provide it if we can get pick up points, there are enough people wanting it and its cost effective...will let you know ASAP
WE NEED IDEA OF NUMBERS ....we are looking at spaces for 200.......yes thats bring your own sleeping bag.....at £30 a head inclusive of food and entertainment what do you want.....Four Posters?? lol
we can still do this with a minimum of 150 people and we have that already.....
WAIT FOR US TO GET A MAIL TO EVERYONE AFTER WE HAVE HAD OUR MEETING NEXT WEEK.
Yes..there seems to be a lot of cynical people on here....but...for the want of appearing stroppy.....AT LEAST WE ARE TRYING TO ORGANISE SOMETHING.
Oh and believe me...I've organised rock concerts for 8,000 people...I and the other organisers can do this....its just down to you folks now.
sorry to be abrupt but I'm fed up of justifying myself on here

well i am sorry but regardless of wether or not you have organsed rock concerts for a million people, you are showing a bit of the wrong attitude here.
it was me who asked about sleeping arangements, that is exactly what it was, me ENQUIRING! i did not state anywhere that i EXPECTED anything, let alone four posters!
please read things how they are put rather than with your own warped interpretaion!
you are objecting to people asking questions, of course people are going to ask questions before deciding if they are interested in paying for something.
you expecting people to put their names down to an event without the knowledge of it does not work.
you need to give people information so that they are able to decide if they like the idea, would you buy anything without knowing what it was first?
if you can not see people asking for information as their way of makeing a choice, rather than taking it as a negative, maybe you would be better asking another member of your organization group to do the PR stuff.
and as for "at least you have tried to organsise stuff" a LOT of the people posting on here have done so too!
count me in for 2 if you can do it for £30 a head, already looking for mask and ball gown lol!.....anyone in the mids room want shagging? lol

please read things how they are put rather than with your own warped interpretaion! ........uncalled for I think dont you?
no actually! MY question was delibertaley taken as a criticism, as were a lot of other peoples. Perfect reasonable I think!
you are objecting to people asking questions.... No one is objecting to questions more the cynicism and ridicule that is being applied
can you give an example of ridicule and cynicism? All I see is that myself and a lot of others were asking questions about an event that you were asking people to put their names down for!
believe me, as someone who has organised events for swingers myself, if you take people asking the questions that they inevitably will do as them mocking you, maybe you should give up the idea now! confused
of course people are going to ask questions before deciding if they are interested in paying for something. you expecting people to put their names down to an event without the knowledge of it does not need to give people information so that they are able to decide
Ok this is where it ends til we can give you definite details
indeed! An event where the organisers feel the need to insult people merely for asking a question about how it works is not in my opinion one worth showing an interest in. it is most DEFINITELY where it ends in my opinion!

Hi All
As it is the first time I have posted I hope it meets all requirements - please go easy on the comments if I have got it wrong lol
This is just a tentative enquiry to see how many would be interested in a Swingers Masked Ball. :swingingchair:
Although I have the pleasure of posting this there are several organisers of the would be event if it comes off.
The idea is to hire a venue within 100 miles of the midlands (hoping for something along the lines of a Manor House and is being looked into as this is typed). :violin:
There would be a cost to cover the hiring, disco and food on the evening and it would be bring your own drinks (nothing has been costed at present but we are looking for a maximum of £30 per head) , it is intended that the cost will cover over night stay as well at the venue.
Please just add yourself to this thread and someone will contact you with more details if there is enough interest.

That is my original quote stating TENTATIVE enquiry and clearly stating if enough interest then people will be contacted, this isnt an arena for a slanging match becuse you feel slighted, if thats the case then email me and lets not spoil if for those who are patient and are waiting for details please ....................... Madchick did apologise for being abrupt blood is not on offer at this stage
firstly, i do not feel "slighted" this in not important enough to "slight me", please do not make judgements about me when you do not know me!
You MAY WELL have stated “TENTATIVE” enquirey in your first post, however “madchick” has constantly stated “wee need people to show their interest”, “we need people to get off their arses and add their names” etc etc
The point people were making is that in order to go to the point of “putting their names down” they would like a bit of information, is that TOO much to ask????
Oh. And as for madchick apologising for being blunt, oooooooh well excuse me, but that makes her rudeness ok then!!!!!!!!! Please except my appologies!
I personally do not want a slanging match, I have other things to do with my time than waste it on what will end up a non-event if the attitude of the organsiers continues, but I DID post to madchick and NOT yourself, so I will echo your own comment, if YOU feel slighted pm ME. Do not post to me on an open forum and expect me not to have the right of reply!
Especially when it was not you I spoke to in ther first place.
Good luck with your event anyway, I for one am not interested in it, and I am sure you need all the luck you can get. biggrin
Love WBB
PS, i sorted out your quotes for you too!!!!!
Just on a watching brief to ensure the site AUP is not breached.

thanks for that! had a mind block, amunching we will go after all!
yes hun... one is a new member but not a full member yet hun the other has no pc but will be a member when pc sorted...both go to xtasia with me and both go in mids room and on cam on occasions with me... they can both be vouched for as genuine people by several from mids room hun
a serious question for you guys....so please don't take this the wrong way....
if you are looking at 200 people at £30 per head.. that is £6,000 pounds....
are you going to cost everything in public so we can see that NO profit is being made, which is the rule on SH?
i would be possibly interested.... however but until you can sort out definate dates and venues ect...... you will get loads of people asking loads of questions and making enquiries...
having read this whole thread.... as someone who is impartial, they may not doubt you have the ability to organise such an event, however the attitude of the organiser IS going to effect whether people decide to go or not.....
so rather than fly off the hook... may i suggest that you count to 10 before typing the reply....

Me please S~L, velvet if possible;-)
Sean,
As I know the organisers I'm sure that accounts will be made available to show this is a non-profit function. Should there be any surplus then it would either be reported and carried over to the next event (as this is hoped to be the first of many) or additional fun things provided on the night:-)
I agree that attitude is important, but that works both ways. Considered and polite observations and questions such as yours will be answered in a considered and polite manner. However this is not a commercial event, where the prospective customer is always right, at least in theory:-) This is something being organised for the SH community by people who think it will be fun.
Everyone has occasional off days where they type things they might not with hindsight believe to be entirely polite and politic. When this happens most of us apologise and that apology is accepted in the spirit it was given. It is unfortunate that that didn't happen here; instead the apology was gracelessly rejected. No one wants this to run and run so hopefully it is now ended and everyone can go back to thinking about and planning a really great ball.
Andy.

there is a difference between appologising for being rude, and justifying being rude!
a comment along the lines of " sorry to be abrupt BUT................." is the latter not the former!
had the poster appologised for being nasty to people simply for asking questions, then THAT would have been an appology, as it was not - it is not a case of it being accepted gracefully or not!
i actually believe it was accepted in the EXACT spirit it was given!
No one wants this to run and run so hopefully it is now ended and everyone can go back to thinking about and planning a really great ball.

well maybe if people did not keep posting again trying to justify the orgional rudeness it WOULD come to an end.
anyway, i have wasted enough time reading about an event that i am no longer interested in.
any further comment to me or aimed at me, please pm me and i will deal with accordinngly.
have a good party! biggrin :D :D

:violin:
As one of the organisers of the event and possibly the one to blame for the whole "ball" idea, perhaps it would be better to close the list and send invites to the ones who have shown real interest in the ball.
All the slagging off of my co organisers has shown a lot of people how petty some people can be.
As Debs stated in her first post, it was merely an enquiry as to numbers of guests who would be interested. Of course, if there had not been much response then the whole idea would have been scrapped. So to have a certain few members griping about not knowing where the event will be etc is totally irrrelevent at this stage.
Once we had an idea of the numbers, that is when we could have looked for a suitable venue either smaller or larger than originally planned.
Just because you put your name down on the list as a potential guest did not mean in any way that you were comitted.
Please everyone, just chill and accept the original post as it was put, a simple enquiry of an event that MAY happen according to response and demand.
I would like to add however, that out of all of us, Madchick has contributed the most to this event and I for one, and I know I can answer for Debs too, is very proud of her. Well done hun xxxxxx

It's relevant in that people will need to know how far they might have to travel and therefore don't want to commit to anything until they do know. One of you has even mentioned minibuses, I think? If it was merely an enquiry, why state an approximate cost -how can you do that without knowing venue details etc?
Once we had an idea of the numbers, that is when we could have looked for a suitable venue either smaller or larger than originally planned.
Just because you put your name down on the list as a potential guest did not mean in any way that you were comitted.
Considering that you are looking for a venue based on the numbers interested, you'd surely want people to state a firm interest before looking, so that other attendees don't have to foot the costs of no-shows/drop-outs?

Maybe it would be best, as you said, to look for somewhere based on the numbers so far and then come back with something more solid with regard to cost, expectations etcetera.
Just my tuppence worth

This has to be THE MOST IMPORTANT part of the event. If one of our members lives in Edinburgh and your event is planned for Southampton, Bournemouth or Torquay (just pretend) then it matters greatly to them where the event is - for cost, for time, for travelling and for making social arrangements at home, maybe even time off work! And if you plan for 150/200 people all being interested, book the venue and THEN announce it and half of them drop out cos they cant' get there you'll be very unhappy indeed.
Now, asking where the event is planned for is totally normal and your attitude to a normal question is out of order, big style.
I am going to lock this thread now, for the time being, until tempers have cooled. Direct any complaints about 1) thread being locked 2) my respones 3) dinner getting cold to me by PM.
