I've spoken to three couples so far.

Yes, that's what they probably did think. I have a friend who was in the same situation once, he was led on by a couple who turned out to be a single guy... however, when my friend got horny he rang the guy back and went to get his blow job, so sometimes it does pay to lie, I guess confused
