Wiltshire Camping BBQ Social Take 2 *** UPDATE ***

Hi everyone. wave

I have put this on page one as the thread has become rather long.
Unhappily we have recently had a serious illness in the family and have been spending most of our time toing and froing to the hospital, now there is a slight possibility that the family member concerned may be going in for major surgery around the time of the BBQ, we donâ€™t know yet as we havenâ€™t been given a date, just told that the op is necessary.
The reason for posting this is to give you all as much warning as possible that should said surgery be scheduled on or around the BBQ then we will have to shorten the meet to the Saturday / Sunday morning only as we intend to be at the bedside to support them.
If this should happen we give our sincere apologies and regrets to those that will not be able to make it as we will really miss meeting you, anyone who is out of pocket over this (I.e. purchased tents etc.) we will of course reimburse you should the need arise.
Sorry about this peeps, kind of an out of the blue thing but we should know when the op is by Tuesday so will update you then.

Hi all,
Well having had so much fun at our first BBQ social, and after a certain amount of requests from those who missed it, we thought we would have another go.
The date we have in mind is the< EDIT > 23rd / 24th September now this is a provisional date, but I have checked out various other parties, socials and munches and as far as I can tell, this date clashes with the least amount of other things going on.
We have a certain amount of room in our garden for tents, but donâ€™t worry about space as we found out we have a campsite just up the road (lived here nearly 30 years and it took LilnFill to point it out to us rolleyes

)
Same rules as last time, bring a burger and a bottle and enjoy. (not so much food this time guys, we could have fed an army at the last one :thumbup:
If anyone can get their hands on a cheap cheap pool heater that would be good wink

As this is a camping / BBQ do, we are at the mercy of the good old British weather so please come prepared, anything from Barbados beach to Glastonbury festival springs to mind lol

If it does get too extreme thereâ€™s always the local pub :rascal:

ok so I guess thatâ€™s out then.
here's what we'll do, anyone who is interested in coming along, post in this thread with dates that are convenient to you. then we'll do it the old democratic way and have it on the weekend where the most peeps can make it :smile:
Either a Friday / Saturday, or a Saturday / Sunday, whichever suits.

Will be keeping an eye on this thread smile

cant say anything much at the moment as we are very busy round this period with our own social and we are going to Round the old camp fire. Our sitters are relations and free so will only put up with so much lol

Anyway its possible that our own social may go the way of the dodo so we will be watching :)

I definately want to come....... too many variables to commit to a date... once you have a date in mind I can say yeah or nay.....
and sheddy and kate can vouch for me cos they have been on a night oot with me.. !!! (dunno how much kate remembers tho' bless her little blue knickers)

how could i not come to one of the biggest best socials in wilts, i should be ok with most weekends as you know as long as i have a bit of time to arange some time off.
I will make shore i will bring case of wine and fizz for me lol, as we run out last time.

I was wondering if i could come. Date and my stomach permitting.
On the proviso that i can I know i might not make the week end of 19 august (my birthday).
Should it be ok can you give or PM me info on the campsite as i dont know how big your garden is but i have only got a giant trailer tent and would be suprised if it would fit with the others. I may have to use that and have a long weekend on the site save me having to get it up and then down in two days as it's a bugger to do. Not enven sure i could do it single handed yet. Might manage if i just use the trailer.

Hello everyone wave

What a hectic couple of weeks, well things are settling down a bit and at last I have had the chance to give this tread some attention rolleyes

I have had several e-mails and PMâ€™s requesting either Friday starts and or Sunday finishes due to peoples commitments so we thought what the hell, weâ€™ll make it a Friday, Saturday and Sunday, then people can come and go as its convenient.
As for dates it seems that 27th/28th are not on, nor are the 19th of august or the 1st / 2nd of September.
So here are some alternatives
4th /5th /6th of August,
25th / 26th /27th of August
8th /9th /10th of September
15th /16th /17th of September
22nd /23rd /24th of September
If you could all let me have your preferences Iâ€™m sure we can work out a mutually convenient date for everyone.
There are a number of local camp sites in case we have an overflow one of which is within staggering distance lol

and I will be happy to forward details to anyone who wants them.
Looking at the thread so far there seems to be quite a bit of interest and all who have contributed will be more than welcome, looks like a fun weekend :rascal: I think I may have found a way of heating the pool wink

Ok look lively folks so we can start a list rolling :bounce:
