Hi, im fairly new to the forum but thought id ask for ideas. Its my daughters 18th birthday soon and was looking for ideas to make it memorable for her. iv searched the internet and its the same stuff. Any ideas but try to keep it clean lol xx
Depends on her of course - impossible to judge what an unknown teen would enjoy.
But what about arranging a 'do' that is themed around, for instance, the 1940's.
Or, if she enjoys travel, what about paying for her and a couple of friends (the sensible ones) to spend a weekend in a European city?
Thanks for your ideas foxy but my ex has already organised a party for her so i want to do something else, its not a competition but just want her to remember it. The weekend is also out because my ex is very protective and would not let her go even though she 18 now. but thanks for your input.x

I moved this one into the Cafe where you're likely to get a better response.
I have to say, all mine seemed to want "stuff" for their 18th - phones, 'puters, etc. so good luck finding something original!
What about something like a hot air balloon ride and a 'posh' picnic afterwards of champagne and cupcakes? Or afternoon tea somewhere? Or a manicure, pedicure, facial type of pamper day at a spa?
(For my 18th my folks hired a coach and I took about 30 odd of my mates to a rather fantastic nightclub where my fave dj was playing... but then it was the 90s and the whole house music/clubbing scene was big.)
I dunno; it's hard when you don't know what the person is in to.
:welcome: to the forum though!
couple of ideas.....how about a proffessional photo shoot. You pay for it and she can go on whatever date suits. Loads of places offer that sort of thing.
Also how about a hot stone massage or fish massage....loads of deals on this sort of thing, and I find it is something a little differant but hopefully she will enjoy and remember. once again you pay for the voucher and she just takes the deal at a time and date to suit her.
Hope this helps

I thought 21 was the extras package :giggle:
for my daughters 18th i made her a photo album, it was filled with photos, from when i was expecting her, the day she was born, 1st smile, step, tooth, etc etc through out the years. she loved it. although i had all the photos she never had her own copy to keep.
also booked her a full day pampering, massage followed to the hairdressers then to the nail salon ready for that evening out.

being there for her will be the best pressie, however perhaps paying for a couple of driving lessons or a silver necklace depending on pennies etc
good luck
i took my daughter to london for her 18th, west end show, posh meal days shopping ..she loved it.
Am sure whatever you do, she'll love it
Take her to a gig, something she loves. Memories can last forever.
Or depending on your relationship......go away for a weekend just you and her, and give her your undivided attention.

not if youve been smoking dope for 30 years :-(
Is that the voice of experience?
Hi,
Why not ask her, tell her how important she is in your life and you'd like to commemorate her 18th with something she'll remember, rather than fretting and maybe get her something she may not like.
I wish you well in your search.

That's a bloody lovely idea Fem. I think I'll steal that should the pitter patter of tiny feet ever be heard in our house. Gem's well into that whole memory box kinda thing anyways. Her scrap book's ace.
Derbylad, I'm finding it impossible to advise you, given that we don't know anything about your daughter, or what she likes, and not sure you should tell us. I can't remember what anyone bought me for my 18th and 21st birthdays. I can remember every person that was there though, and what they did. I'm thinking those who've advised something intangible like an experience you can both share are on the right track. I know that doesn't help very much. What did you used to go to or do together when she was a kid? Is there a kind of more grown up equivalent you could do together? Something like that.
N x x x ;)
Thank you for all your advise and sorry i havent replied earlier (when the thread got moved i cudnt find it lol). One idea i wont be going with is the 'sh' membership though. i will keep you informed x
Hi - I'm a bit of a softy at heart and right from an early age i used to say to my daughter that i 'loved her to the stars and back' so it only seemd right that for her 18th, i bought her a star
Obviously it isnt her's (a bit like the other offers where you can buy a dolphin / cheetah etc) but it does have a lot of sentiment to it
I used this site and found the service brilliant

Theres a range of prices to suite all pockets and the certificate comes boxed and well presented (all girlie, with feathers, glitter and sparkles)
You choose which constellation you want your star from (i picked Andromeda - Princess) and then you name the star
My daughter loved it and still displays her certificate in her room 3 years on!!
As with all the other suggestions, i am sure that she will appreciate whatever you get her!!
