No I am not 50 but my sweet adorable W maliciously asked me what were going to do to mark my half century. She loves to plan ahead.
It got me thinking. 50 years ago a mobile phone came in a red box on street corner. It took at least an hour to place a call to London. TV was just the BBC for a few hours in the evening. Computers filled whole rooms and had less power than a watch.
Now everyone has a pocket phone. it takes less than a minuet to connect to New Zealand. There is so much TV about it is possible to sit there all day, and still only find a couple of hours worth seeing. Computers are in most homes, and they set in the corner. Watches have more computing power than Apollo went to the moon on.
So what will another 50 years bring? I think a large pocket phone. Voice controlled, able to link into just about any network, TV, web etc... and more power than the PC I am on now.
What I would really like is a society that is based on relationships, not money.
What would you like to see in 50 years?
What would I like to see in 50 years? My reflection staring back at me in a mirror!
I would be 87 by then and to be honest I'm dreading it, not to be 87 but to be living in this world at 87 if I have today's standards to go by.
The way the Government is today, I cannot see any improvements ahead, but I'm no expert. I strongly believe poverty will be back BIG style. This year there is a predicted all time high for home repossessions and bankruptcy's, people are living on the bread line yet again.
Most teenagers today are studying for exams so they can enjoy a decent job in the future, but they'll never be able to afford to own their own homes at today's rate.
Doom and gloom I know, but I don't think the future looks overly bright.
A bleak and desolate wasteland where the vestiges of humanity fight tooth and nail for the last remaining food and resources.
Oh sorry, like to see.........
Personally i dont think we have a choice about what were gonna see or be doing in 50 years. War and death looks to be whats on the horizon x
I feel you are right. New threats from the outside the last way to prop up a failing government?
