Hi Peeps,
I placed an ad using my AOL address and never received any replies, no that worried I hung on in and still nothing.
So I tried sending myself an email from numerous ISP's

** WANADOO
** EXCITE
** BT
** PLUS NET
** OPERA
It took time to get this accounts but it was worth it, you see the email sent to my AOL from all these accounts BOUNCED BACK !!!
There is nothing wrong with my AOL account as such and there is no reason why mail should not come in. Clearly AOL are using blocking software against spam but clearly they don't know what is or what is not spam. Certainly all my emails to my AOL account were not Spam !!
It's quite disgusting and I have written to AOL giving the bounced headers.
The bottom line is that I will close my AOL account as they cannot be trusted anymore.
If you have an AOL account I suggest you test it out as well, you are probably losing emails
hi
we too have had this problem, more so when we are replying to an ad we get our reply returned if it goes to an AOL account. We have had numerous emails returned we just thought we were just unlucky lol redface

I have the same problem when i try and send from my blueyonder account aol are in dispute over spam emails from different servers
Bloody Hell, no wonder they call it AO-HELL!!!
I have had similar problems with . In fact, I have had lost email with every type of mail account (I have used 3 ISPs and a number of freemail accounts). Its not spam filters causing it either.
Personally, I think email is actually very unreliable. There needs to be some kind of expose about this because I believe there are millions of people out there who are assuming people aren't getting back to them whereas the mail is just disappearing somewhere.
Its also worth pointing out that I sent myself 10 messages via my photo ad page (in withheld email address mode) several days ago, and not one of them has arrived. I suggest we all try sending ourselves a message to see if it works.
Another point to consider: AOL are renowned for trying to censor the internet (personally I wouldn't deal with those corporate bastards) - perhaps they are filtering email of a sexual nature?
aol has a spam file check in there same with MSN sometimes mail gets put in there if click read email, then along the top manage mail, then click spam mail see if your replies are in there smile
Aol is fine with me but check you aren't blocking all email that is not sent from people in your address book!
I've had problems replying to AOL accounts too...
To be honest I would never even consider using AOL as an ISP... Don't know why I feel like that...I have never been warned off or anything....it just feels so wrong.
We have been on AOL for years, mostly it just chuggs away and does what you want it to do, no drama, BUT if sending or receiving emails the content of the subject line is very important, anything "iffy" can get the email rejected.
I'm with and they seperate mail and spam into two boxes but let me know if I get spam. I think my first letter from SH went into the Spam but the rest have gone into mail. Might be worth going with them.
It works fine if you read how to use it .
I have real problems with AOL to the extent that I place warnings on some of my contact pages that my email to AOL may not get through.
If you prefix the subject with RE: your email has a better chance of getting through. Also make sure you don't use any words connected with pharmaceuticals, sex, accounts (accounting), Register, Pay, buying, selling or making a transaction in the subject your email and, if possible, in the body of your email!
If you're running a business using an AOL email account you are losing business hand over fist!
AOL also block all SMTP email unless your MX record contains your custom reverse DNS record. This is only of relevence to those with their own SMTP Servers.
The main reason for this is how you are sending your emails to the AOL account. AOL can not support HTML emails. Most email clients now-a-days send html emails as default.
Try it again but ensure that you are sending 'text only'. That doesn't mean no pictures etc, but the email itself should be set to text in the settings before you compose it.
Hope this helps.
If you are still having problems I can provide a connectivity test to the accounts and explain in detail why things are not getting through.
We use . its good as you never have to delete any messages and you can search for any addressee, content or anything else within emails you recieved. i dont know if you can register for but we have a few invites if anyone wants one
hi renaldo and clara,
I would like to try a account. please send an invite to if at all possible. Thanks!

I always send my emails as Text Only and still have problems with their over enthusiastic spam filter.
