This made me laugh when i got sent it, but it also made me think just how far we have come in just a short space of time..........quite a shock really as the changes are in some cases so subtle you dont even notice them until you look back.
PS this is a joke and in no way meant as a dig at anyone under 30!! when you lot are all whizzing about in your flying cars or teleporting here and there and having virtual sex via holograms....you will be telling your kids you had it hard in the early part of the 21st century!!
THE SPOILED UNDER-30 CROWD!!!
If you are 30 or older you will think this is hilarious!!!!
When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears
With their tedious diatribes about how hard things were. When they were growing up; what with walking Twenty-five miles to school every morning
... Uphill... Barefoot.
BOTH ways
Yadda, yadda, yadda
And I remember promising myself that when I grew up,
There was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it
And how easy they've got it!
But now that... I'm over the ripe old age of Thirty, I can't help but look around and not ice the youth of
Today.
You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my
Childhood, you live in a damn Utopia!
And I hate to say it but you kids today you
Don't know how good you've got it!
I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet. If we wanted to know something, We had to go to the freaking library and look it up ourselves,
in the card catalogue!!
There was no email!! We had to actually write
somebody a letter, with a pen!
...Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put
it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there!
There were no MP3's or Napsters! You wanted to
steal music, you had to hitchhike to the damn record store and
shoplift it yourself!
Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and
the DJ'd usually talk over the beginning and Screw it all up!
We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you
Were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy Signal, that's it!
And we didn't have fancy Caller ID either!
When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be Your school, Your mom, your boss, your Bookie, your neighbor getting you into trouble, a Collections agent, you
Just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your
Chances, mister!
We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video
Games with high-resolution 3-D graphics!
We had the Atari 2600!
With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'asteroids'. Your guy was a little Square!
You Actually had to use your Imagination!!
And there were no Multiple levels or Screens, it was just one screen Forever!
And you could never win. The game just kept getting
Harder and harder and Faster and faster until you died!
Just like LIFE!
You had to use a Little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it Came to channel surfing!
You had To get off Your butt and walk over to the TV to change the Channel!
There was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons On Saturday Morning. Do you Hear what I'm saying!?! We had to Wait ALL WEEK For cartoons,
you spoiled Little rat-b*******'s!!
And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat
Something up we had to use the stove ... Imagine that! and we had to wait until it was prepared and cooked before we ate!!
That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids
Today have got it too easy.
You're spoiled. You guys wouldn't have lasted
Five minutes back in 1980!
Regards,
The over 30 Crowd xxx
rotflmao Brilliant!
I'm not spoiled
We used to have an Atari. It was the only games "thingy" we owned. We were allowed it 1 hour a week per child
Cartoons didn't exist either nope they did not, apparently we lived to far from the mast to pick up the signal for cartoons and the signal was only good enough to watch after we had gone to bed (yeah we fell for that one) rolleyes
We have a remote but it has no batteries, no idea where they went
I cant work an Ipod lol
I don't own a microwave I reheat in the oven
I used to tape of the radio until a couple of years ago and on the odd occasion I still record films of the TV
We owned 1 bike which we had to share between 3, If it was not your day you had to walk cool
The only internet I used before I was 21 was limited use at school or college redface
I still write letters and post them by walking to the post box
By Tan (an elderly 25 year old)

:giggle: :giggle: :giggle:
Suddenly I feel very old rolleyes
Now there's an idea for a new reality show:
"The 1980's House!"
:giggle:
My kids wouldn't be able to function in that decade, let alone in the 60's and 70's!
I don't think I'd had used an 'indoor' telephone ... (with a dial...that went around!!) until I was thirteen or forteen!

god it took sooooooooo long to dial a number, especially if you had to use the area code.....phoning swapshop was a nightmare....01 811 8055)

Does anybody else remember when they changed all the STD codes and added the one`s ??
There was a recorded message if you dialed the old code .....it was a multiple crossed line !! You could talk to loads of people simultaneously.
Please don`t say I`m the only one that was there !! redface

I remember them bringing in the 01 but then again I still put my old area code for my "now" phone number even though its been different for 5 years
WE had a party line and although i was too young to understand what that was I do know that sometimes you would pick the phone up and hear people already talking on it!
I remember buying my eldest a Sinclair ZX 48K computer with a separate tape section for loading the games. If you wanted to play Trivial pursuit, you'd put the tape in and go and cook dinner it took that long for the programme to load!
Then you'd get back and see 'loading error' on the screen AAARGGG!!
We thought it was pretty amazing though. It seemed so high tech compared to the little tennis game we had when I was in my teens ... black screen rectangular 'bats' and a pixel for a ball. None of my mates had one - we only did because my dad owned an electrical shop and got it wholesale.
He was a bit of a gadget man - liked all the 'new' technology. I remember when he bought a fax machine - it just collected dust because nobody else had one so there was no-one to fax!
Oh the good old days!
mind you, the food tasted better back then..
I remember that my dad made the mistake of buying a betamax video player and insisted in not caving in to the VHS phenomenon. It was a superior system apparently. I bought myself a VHS machine when I was 18 and left home soon after. My sister still has her copy of 'Rupert and the Frog Chorus' although the player was long ago consigned to the dustbin rolleyes

Yes, the arrival on the scene of the table top fondue set is sadly missed.
only having 4 channels on the tv, when they launched channel 5 omg and then only certain area's could get it lol
didn't have a portable tv in my room until I was 18
remember getting my 1st Sony walkman, so thought I was the kiddie, don't think you can even buy tapes anymore lol
must admit I loved the 80's it was the decade I left school and did all my growing up.. so funny seeing the fashions coming back in the decade that is refered to as the "decade fashion forgot" lol
