apologies if this is the wrong section to ask this. i haven't been here too long, but reading the ads, i've seen a non-paying members write that they can't respond to messages.
is this true? how do they benefit from this place then?
pedantically, it's more of an observation than a question but hey.
also, can we give personal info like emails and numbers out? or do we have to exchange a few messages first?
As far as I know, basic members can't send PM's but they can receive them. The site automatically edits personal details in PM's of basic members.

The site is free to join - you can browse the forum but not post, receive mail but not send, view ads, place an add, send winks view some pictures. Basically get a taster of the site before you pay any money.
Free members mail is edited before they get it to mark out phone numbers and emails etc

surely you can do things like joebloggs at g mail dot com and the server wont pick up on it? not suggesting like, just pointing out.

Yes, get lots of those
Can un-paid-up members use the chat rooms? I guess not cos I haven't had anyone commenting about it in there biggrin
I think, given what extra you can do with paying - it is a good option. But I'm lucky enough to be a really really old member so get in free anyway.

There are a lot of people like that on other sites too - OK for a while to see what's going on before you actually decide to spend the money to join properly, but I think there is a case for Moderators deleting these people after a few weeks if they don't subscribe.
Plim wink
