this really is getting to be a pain , even logging on , how can i put in my login (that we've been using for months) and this site tells me it's wrong then i have to attempt twice to get a password that will let us onto the site . appreciate machinery breaksdown but every night at least once we get locked out and have to reboot the whole system , truthfully it kinda makes you think is the ag worth it

OK let me enlighten you.
For the past few days, the site has been having problems which I am sure the admin is hard at work trying to fix.
We all get to the point where we are trying to log on and it doesn't seem to progress. There is no point trying to change your login details/password. It is a temporary glitch.
HINT: if you look at the Member Stats and it says 0 to everything or has very few people showing (e.g. 20 people instead of thousands) then the system is not working properly. Relax, make yourself a cup of tea and come back later.
HINT 2: strangely enough the chatrooms seem to work fairly well when the forums are down but don't dare try to change rooms or you'll be locked out from chat as well.
Please be patient and I am sure our SH will be back in full working order soon.

The chatrooms are on different servers to the main site, which is why they work quite nicely. You shouldn't have any difficulty in changing rooms at all
As for everything else Tania said, yep the site is having problems and Admin are working on getting it sorted.... The giveaway for me when the site dies is the little message at the top of the screen saying about an SQL error :)

No, it's not just you ... I had the same problem last night when I tried to log on ... kept taking me to a page to register as a new user - no message, no nothing about the password being wrong .
Raised a ticket about the problem but it's another hour to go before the 24 hr response time expires ... meantime, I used the send me a new passwd link then logged in on that this morning and reset my passwd back to what it usually is.
Other times I log in on the home page then when i click on forum, I have to log in a 2nd time ...
Got to say - the service is a little flakey these days ... the downtime during UK peak activity was a bit odd too. I know there's a time difference between here and the US but the usual procedure for these things is that it is done outside of normal hours to avoid disruption to users ... at least where I work. Still, guess it depends on what the agreed service level agreement is.

That makes a lot of sense Shireen but sometimes the chat slows down terribly and then people complain that they were locked out and had to wait 5 mins to get back in. It seems to happen when they click on someone's name to see his/her profile. But it could be a mere coincidence I guess.
The 5 minute wait has nothing to do with the site problems... It's when someone is kicked off the server for what ever reason... Could be a room closure and they haven't gone to another room before it was closed, it could be because they were kicked out by an OP or room host, or it could just be that they loose the connection
