Hi, I hoping to completely change my career. And I have been just been offered a course with Computeach.
Is there anyone on here that has done one of there courses or know someone that has? What was it like? Do they give you the support they say they do? Anyway advice you can give me will be very much appreciated.

ive seen the adverts, but never contacted them.
is this a private company that charge lots?
maybe going along to your local college is a good place to start, they are all holding open days evenings at the mo.
most offer good advise and financial assistance.
some of these teaching companies on tv , well the qualification isnt worth the paper its printed on.

One thing you have to make certain of before you take a course, is that the qualifications you gain from it are what employers in your area want for the job you are ultimately aiming for. I have known people to spend years training only to be told when they get to the workplace, with arms full of certificates/diplomas and degrees to be told they don't have the right sort of qualification for the job they are applying for. Just check out with your local employment people what qualifications local employers look for first before shelling out for an expensive course that empties your pockets but gains you nothing useful.

My advice contact learn direct - they offer EDCL - european certificate for IT. They also do basic IT course some are free. Computeach may be okay but in the IT world they are looking for ITQ qualifications or microsoft certificates. Contact your local college as well for advice on free courses.

It's ECDL, Corrie. European Computer Driving Licence. It covers the normal 'Office' suite, ie, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, use of the internet and general PC usage. It doesn't cover anything to do with programming or the building or PC's but useful to show your IT literacy skills as a user. The advanced level is much more indepth, certainly on Excel.
Not sure if that is what he's looking to do? :shock:

Firstly thanks to everyone that has replied.
The course that computeach have offered me would be for Senior Support Technician, which is the sort of field I hoping to get in to.
I ve got a meeting with someone from Advent soon so will see what they can offer. And I ll have a look at the others that have been mentioned.

I work as a Software Engineer in Leeds. I've done it for ten years now and everyone i have met during my career have had Higher Nation Diplomas or a degree. The only other qualifications that employers seem to value are the Microsoft MCP certificates. I would recommend you do a open university course and try to get at least a HND or HNC qualification. that should open some doors.
