Not sure what to do so thought i'd ask all you lovely people for some advice, could be a long one tho so get a cuppa b4 you start reading lol
A while ago i went for a job i really wanted working for bupa, had the interview all went well then they said they had to send off for refrences etc and do the police record thing (blah blah blah lol) and ages went by and i hear nothing so i went for another job, its only working at the local asda but because i work weekend night the moneys quite good, then i get a phone call today from the above bupa home saying everything has come back and did i still want the job confused: now my problem is altho i do like it at asda, everyone really nice and for the hours i do the moneys quite good etc i can't help but feel i could be doing something better at times, i suppose my real problem is altho i know i would rather be working at the bupa home, its the kind of job i have always done and loved doing in the past, the moneys not as good as at asda, so do i go for the job i would enjoy the most or the one that pays more money? dunno
I have kind of made my mind up but not sure if its the right way to go and other peoples comment would help me in deciding if i am doing the right thing, cause i do value your lots opinions (well sometimes anyway lol)
IMHO while money is important it's not the be-all and end-all...... go for job satisfaction every time

pesronally i would do the job you enjoy for less money.
if there was ever a way of supplementing your bupa work with maybe much reduced shifts at asda..would that be possible?
apart from that.. are there more chances of career or maybe working your way up a bit at bupa? i personally would take that one. maybe you can overhall your finances to compensate.

Your happiness is what counts at the end of the day naughty, especially if you could manage on the lower pay of course confused
Good luck hunny, hope your decision comes to you without too much heartache kiss

and that would be my answer. I know there is a limit when it comes to finances, but it's surprising how you can adjust to less money if you need to and whilst you can't hang a pound sign on satisfaction, it's got a lot of worth.

I have to agree with Davej and Johneboy.

ps sorry i missed the party this morning, brushing a few cobwebs off a few old friends. innocent
it's a strange day at SH towers cos im gonna have to agree with Johneboy
several years ago i quit a £30k a year job to do what i wanted, its been a bit of a rollercoaster ride but great fun & if it all turns to shite in the new job, asda is not really a company you would have difficultly getting a job with again.
go for the new job if it feels right and if you're any good with it the money will come in time.
Go for the money!
Its the only reason you work!
Check your finances and if you can afford the lower paying job without it having to much of an impact on your income then go for it, otherwise stay as you are

what kinda excuse is that for not turning up to myy after school bash? lol
its ok there was more wine for me wink
Sounds like you enjoy working at Asda, the hours suit your life and the money is good, why change that for something your unsure of and have always done??
The other question is stress and emotion, surely working within BUPA will have far more of that than you can possibly ever have at Asda, do you need it??
At the end of the day the only one who can make your mind up about this job is you NN.

actually the hours are shit i work friday, saturday and sunday night but thats why the pays better than usual cause of the hours/days i work, has noone noticed i ain't been out for like months? lol
You have to weigh it up, but I would personally go for job satisfaction every time.
someone on here said that you can get a job at a place like ASDA again and again, which is very true. So why not give BUPA a go, and if you find you can manage on the money, and importantly you can manage the stress, and even more importantly, find the job totally rewarding (which I think is what you really want isn't it)
IF, and a BIG IF, you decide you cant handle the BUPA because any of the reasons above, then you can quit and go back to ASDA.
Hope that is of some help
PS I quit my job as marketing manager of a large computer retailer cos i couldn't take the stress anymore, much happier now even though I don't earn as much as I did !! So I for one would say that happiness is more important that the £££'s
phew, take a breath

My advice... for what its worth.... would be to write out a list of all the pros and cons for each job.... then compare the two... the answer should be clear....
But if that doesn't help... go for the Bupa one... yes its less money... not sure of yr financial situation so only you can know if its the right reason to choose a job.... you will feel intellectually stretched... whereas... no offence... you can always go back to Asda at any time....
Think carefully about your choice... but whatever you do... you'll enjoy it...

Money is good, but satisfaction is better wink
I am in the process of quitting my £30k plus a year job and doing what I really want to do and I have never felt so good in my whole life - I think confused
Scary, but necessary for my own well being
Good luck in your decisions Naughty
hi naughtynymphos1, what a dilema :!: :!: . I would say go with your heart and money isn't everything. But then sometimes money is, if you have family to support and need that extra few pounds, we sometimes have to do the jobs that make us the most money to support that life style even if we don't like the job.
I know thats not much help, but just go for it, i'm sure if you don't like it ASDA will take you back.
Ive been dealing with BUPA for 20 odd years they are a fabulous company to deal with and I know they look after their staff very well. I know a lot of the mangagers personally including in and around the birmingham area. all really nice people.
Supermarket jobs are usually easy to find if it doesnt work out for some reason so my advice is go for it !! smile
If you decide to take the job with BUPA have a chat with your manager at ASDA. Explain that you are happy at ASDA and ask about the posibility of returning if it doesn't work out with BUPA. That way you haven't burned any bridges.

Naughty, if you can stand the wage drop, take the job that will give you more satisfaction and hopefully wont include weekends (cause we bloody missing you at all the socials etc) lol
Could you not take some holidays from Asda and try the new job out just to make sure it is what you want? If it works out, you could then give your notice into Asda and know that you will be taking the job you want, if the new job doesnt work out, then Asda wont be any of the wiser and you still got that job!
bupa!what you more proud of telling people you work?forget about the money!im a gas man now,had really good job loadsa i couldnt of done it for life so took a wage cut and got a proffesion!i lost 2 thirds of my wage for two year!it pays now tho!
Christmas is coming and only three more pay days..............
Play it safe tell BUPA you need to give eight weeks or twelve weeks notice keep the ASDA job to reep the benefits of Walmarts staff discount and additional hours leading up to the festive period, then start New Year with the New Job, BUPA will more than likely wait for you as they have done all the CRB reports ......
Good luck in the dilema

Well i've made a dessision and i have been down to bupa today to give them all the stuff they need, u know the usual P45 etc they needed another refferance as one didn't come back due to the fact the home i worked at before has changed hands and the woman whos name i gave no longer works there, but fear not i have other contacts lol so now i just have to wait for it to be returned and then so long as its ok they will call me with a start date, wasn't a choice i made easy due to money etc but as most of you know i am married so my wage is not the only income we have and my hubby has a good job so we can afford the small pay drop, which is less than i first thought, just the extra always comes in handy, but i do feel i have made the right choice so hears hoping everything works out ok
Congratulations Nymphs Good luck in your new career with the British United Providence Association.
See Im not just a pretty face I know stuff !!!
im really glad you made that choice... hope you enjoy it!
a change is good as a rest (but then im sure everybody here knows that!)

good luck
