There is a cure - Radio 4 or Talk Sport
Radio 4 talks about "naughty things" more. wink
Nope, you aren't old....radio two has become younger, it's official cos my Dad says so! :P
He used to listen to it all the time, but now it's all full of 'trendy hippies' (his words not mine! lol ) Who play 'crap' (again his) and who have 'stolen' his radio show! Personally I quite like it at times.....but Jonathon Woss does my head in :P
Well, I am old so that's why I like it maybe?
Radio 2 is the choice for lots of people of all ages, so don't worry about age unless you have to trim the hairs in your nose and ears more than once a month
where else can u listen 2 steve wright in the afternoon biggrin
& bring back those great memorys from the eightys :D :D
We have had the same conversation in our house . My car radio is always on Radio 2 . Steve Wright in the afternoon essential easy listening . Been called allsorts by Mags and the kids for listening to 'old farts music'. Maybe a bit 'sad' but songs these days just ar'nt the same .
Now that does sound old !!
All they need to do is bring back "Our Tune" at 11m and it would be perfect!
Dont knock radio 2 Steve Wright and Johnnie Walker are two of the best presenters on the radio.
Look, you obviously need educating - Talk sport- 1 - 4 pm Hawksbee & Jacobs
Steff35,
The BBC had a definite change of polices a few years back and Radio 2 Became the new Radio 1, taking on a daytime format similar to the Radio 1, I guess we remember from earlier years. Steve Wright in the afternoon for example and a mix of music both modern and oldies. Where as Radio 1 nowadays, only tends to play stuff from past 3 years. So yeah, we’re all getting older but I think the station has changed just as much as you.
God bless him but I really don’t think you or myself would be listening to Radio 2 if Charlie Chester and such like were still on the air.
Although still love Annie Nightingale on Radio 1.

Get a CD player installed and then you choose the music instead of relying on DJ choice.

I’ve got a 40 gig MP3 player in my motor with around 4,000 songs on it but more importantly loads of talk base radio such as plays, Book readings, Comedy must have around 200 just a minute shows the funniest thing on the radio. As a rule I tend to listen to speech when driving now a days. Sadly even got some old radio show I taped years ago transferred to MP3 Les Ross on BRMB, Charlie Wolf on Lazer558, And Steve Wright with Mr Anger and all the other characters from the 80’s, Now I really am an ANORAK. redface
get radio 5 on its much better biggrin

Younger than you and Radio 2 is listened to a fair bit here and I have been known to go for Radio 4 occasionally (depends on the topic of womans hour). However the majority of the time it's cd's ... mainly loud rock/metal music with a vibrating bass line biggrin

Interesting reading thanks all, my mind is at ease, thought i was going wel past my sell by date........
As for talk sport.............not my bag really smile
CD's are good, but the Ipod is the duxnutz!
Oh thank God, I thought I was passed it!!
Aren't policemen looking younger these days? lol
It's a sign of growing up to start to consider worthwhile music you thought was utterly naff when you were younger. Bit like realising that looks aren't the best way to judge a person.
Here endeth my thought for the day.
P.S. Oh yes, re: Jonathan Woss .... mad

Much as I hate to agree  Radio 4 is the only station in my car, mind you I am an old git  wink
cant say we have ever listened to radio 2 but i was aware it has become the most popular radio station in the country after a change of image and the demise of radio fairness to radio i it has become a victim of the appaling music that has blited the charts over the last 20 1 has always and still do's play the music that they think is at the cutting edge but sadly for them the interest in new music is at an all time low with very little in the way of good new groups, solo singers about at the music decline for me started when everything in the charts was stock, aickin and watermam produced tunes, for those that dont remember and for those that want to forget it was a time when records all sounded the same with the same tune playing in the background but the lyrics changed. this has been like it since 1985 with just a few acts trying something have a mass of dreadfull cover versions in the charts every week its no surprise the music industry has gone down the plughole.i am 38 which i dont think is that old (please tell me i aint old rolleyes ) so i remeber when music was gr8 and radio 1 was on all the the two tone/mod stuff like madness ,the jam .speicals the electro stuff like gary numan ,kraftwork etc as well as blondie, roxy music, elo etc etc
(blimey i am sounding old  ) but u get my drift .there is bound to be someone out there that says music today is gr8 and its never been better bla bla bla but for me and
many others the charts is a complete waste of space and full of tuneless is
however a small of light at the end of this very deep dark tunnel  one of my favourite singers has released a new record and its absolutely everyones cup of t this wont be but kate bush is back and sounding as good as ever so if your a fan then go and get it u wont be dissapointed
ohh i have to agree there, i was waiting for the Kate Bush stuff to appear, and i have to say its bloody great, worth the 12yr wait i think! And while your on about blasts from the pasts my other fave group "simple minds" released a cd last month, and that is well good too...........for those that were into them.. lol
belfast child one of my all time fave tunes
And another sign of getting older When you go to your kids parents evenings and you end up fancying your kids teachers !! . biggrin We have both done this !! lol
Well - self confessed TOG here.
Except for when the Archers or the 6:30pm quizes are on!
I'm 22, and I listen to Radio 2 when I get tired of the cd's in my car. They had the Foo Fighters on the Dermot O'Leary show a few weeks ago. Plus I like the range of music they play.
Radio 1 deliberately targets a teenage audience these days and makes no bones about it. Since mark and Lard left last year there is nothing for anyone over 21 during the day, evenings are a bit better (RIP John Peel).
As someone who drives all day, the radio is essential and it is Radio 2 all the way except between 1 and 4 when its Hawksbee and Jacobs on Talksport.
omg Steff,
I remember 'our tunes' with Simon Bates. We used to sob the whole way through. (I feel so old now!!!)
I can listen to most music and radio stations but my pet hate is the new groups/bands remaking the old songs. It totally spoils the original song and the new 'wannabe' stars cant possible perform it the same as the previous artists.
I have had several disagreements with my daughter over this as she thinks the new songs are great and i try to explain that the original is the best. I think that will just be an ongoing agruement between us rolleyes
Radio 4 always, except Terry, on the way to work, if the Today Programme is too depressing, and whenever You and Yours is on. R2 to the rescue.
