One of the best bits of advice I can give is don't expect it to happen first time you try.
You can prepare and key yourselves up to the nth degree but if it feels wrong then it isn't going to happen.
For Tim and I, I practised with toys and we had a night set aside for it. It didn't happen.
I was that tense and over prepared we failed miserably (well I did anyway)
We finally succeeded two weeks later when we both felt utterly relaxed and I asked for it, it got better after that as tim just waited until I asked then it happened.
Make sure you have oodles of lubricant, we find baby lotion works best as KY evaporates in seconds, but most importantly respect each others pace.
I found it easier to be on top as I could dictate the pace, I changed my mind once I really started to enjoy it though.

I think it may be psychological, maybe the forbiden fruit effect. Although there are two very strong circular muscles there that do tend to grip that bit harder---maybe that has an effect too.

This is some sound advice, but Im not entirely sure if baby lotion is condom safe.... probably is but lots and lots of lube are essential.
Durex do a lube called 'play' that you can buy off the shelf in boots or if you wanna get some fantastic stuff.. ID Lube (especially millenium) is silicon based so its condom friendly and goes a very very long way. But you probably dont need anything like that for your first time.
Relax and make sure she breaths (when we tense we have a habit to take lots of little breaths) - it does help to relax you if you take big long breaths.

Good question, why is she my ex. I can only say that some things naturally come to an end. For me, it also proved the point that a good, strong relationship cannot survive on sex alone.
