I think ankle chains are lovely on bare legs. I cringe when I seem them under stockings or tights. Its justWRONG!

Debbiewebs, that's a lovely image. I do love them specifically for their connotation with the P-word. I couldnt meet up with someone from here for instance without wearing one. Need to look the part b/c I'll FEEL the part. (Bitchy, self-indulgent statement coming up) I have tanned skinny shapely ankles and I wear a chunky bracelet with wide-leg linen pants. Really depends on what else you wear and how you present yourself. I could go simple with only a big bold necklace and a similar ankle bracelet (from ethnic retailers?) and the look is quite different. But I do love them. I'm surprised the fashion industry havent done more to shake off the vulgarity and promote it's status in style. better than bringing back the horrendous 80s fashion - way to soon!

Ankle chains are small, discreet and very sexy in my opinion. I wouldn't say they were tarty in any way. Women's legs have been on show since, well since women had legs really! So it is only making them look even better smile

Apparantly, but I cant find the source (google is not my friend tonight) a prostitute would wear an ankle chain on her left? ankle. This was the subtle code of a higher class of prostitute to say she was a prostitute. Used in bars and hotels where prostitution wasn't allowed.

Sorry Debbiewebs....... think i have to agree with Mr. Debbiewebs on this one... ankle chains were used as a common recognisance of a prostitute... although they have become more popular in the last few years as a general fashion item, there is still a strong link to prostitution in wearing one as perceived by the general public. Still, it is a free country and you are entitled to wear what you like... although do be aware that some may judge you by the mere fact that you choose to wear one...

I like waist chains as well. I once had to measure a customer for one. My eyes were out on stalks & hands were trembling when she undid the top button on her jeans :twisted:
