seems like this will be the uk holiday thing to do this year.....
Are you trying to change this from a swingers site to a games site?
might be worth seeing if anyone replies to your other posts before you go down the same route immediately.

We'll be towing our tourer around this year as usual...
Hopefully this years weather will be better than last years :lol2:
I reckon loads of people are realising caravanning is cool, apart from being stuck behind one when your not pulling one too. I thiknm the camping fraternity is exploding too the kit you can get is fantastic and relatively cheap now too. For £300 you can get all your kit and pitch up for a week almost anywhere in the country. hey I know the weather can be a bit bad but hey thats the gamble. Kids love it too after all it still a sort of adventure and they always make great holiday mates with other families.
Yeah caravanning and camping can rock steve

Last years weather  just a bit dodgy or what lol
We will be spending weekends away in our tourer as usual!! Plus a couple of weeks away, but not decided where yet...that is the beauty of it..can usually decide where to go at the last minute..especially when not tied to school holiday times biggrin

as a point of interest to caravaners and motorhome users wink
I seem to recall in "lets meet up" that someone was putting together a meet up for swinger caravan owners around the easter break for some fun at a park somewhere .... biggrin :D :D :D
might be worth a check out in the lets meet up section

From my vague memory of that thread, wasn't it locked because it was a caravan site they had a financial interest in and therefore against the AUP?
dunno Might just be me, but am not sure it got anywhere.
I know there have been a number of camping type social weekends organised in the past. I have always wimped out as I'm not really a 'rural' kinda gal.
Maybe I should give camping/caravanning a go... but think would prefer a nice B&B anyday.
i love camping, but not in a caravan prefer my tent and as long as the site has leccy i have all my home comforts.
ive been to quite a few camping socials and they are always a great laugh
E x
Gotta be a tent, its the best! but not this year lol
We are going abroad to a couple of countries
A cottage in the highlands October half term
Hopefully Palma in may for a weekend to
:bounce:
We'll be out most weekends with our motor sport commitments starting around Easter and lasting till end of Spetember.
I'd rather spend the next 12 months watching day-time TV than go on a caravan/camping holiday. Did them both once each in the past. Couldn't stand it.
In the past I've been too hard up to get a cottage somewhere nice - so we stayed home and saved our money. Did the garden instead. THAT would be my suggestion to anyone wanting to cut down on holiday costs.
I honestly can't see any enjoyable aspect in either activity. I know many people do and all respect to them - but never gonna happen in my household.
I'd like to get on the water in a barge or similar for a few days.
But then, I'd like to live on one too.
Doubt it'll happen, but hey!
lp
Our kids will be going with my parents caravaning for a couple of weekends this year.
We will be staying home
Caravans? Not for us and I think they should be banned from being towed by cars on the road.
They are a bloody nuisance, and that is being polite.
Go down to Devon or Cornwall in the summer and see how many traffic jams they cause.
I prefere a nice lazy day in the sun, laying on a beach somewhere nice and hot.
Sorry not for me, but hey each to their own I suppose.
Actaully Kent, not like you to be polite wink however caravans cause a lot less traffic jams than you might think, it is normally the agressive, over eager, driver behind them that causes half the problems and the accidents. The legal speed for towing a caravan is 60mph on a motorway or dual carrageway that has the national speedlimit. If the towing vehicle and the caravan are correctly matched then there is no reason why the cannot be towed safely at the legal speed limit, depending on road and weather conditions of course. Caravans are no slower than a wagon and share the same speed limits, due you thing these should be banned off the road.
So unless you want to drive irreseponsibly, break speed limits and cause other road accidents, then sorry but you will just have to slow down and stop being so impaitent lol
As for holidays this year, yes our will be out and about in the next few weeks and over the summer. Thinking of heading down to Kent to visit some friends (dont worry Mr Kent, I will give you plenty of notice) and then off to scotland or possibly the North East coast. Not doing the continent this year due to the euro, so spending a bit of time in this country.
We know that our fixed double bed will be warm, clean and comfy, we know that we can have a shower when we want, turn the central heating up if it gets cold or the air conditioning on if it gets too warm, we can watch a DVD, Sky TV or listen to music when we want and if the weather turns bad, we just move on  Oh and if the ground isnt level, we can use the remote control motor mover to move the caravan into position biggrin
And thats all in a tourer, so caravans are not the cheap holidays some of us remember from our childhood days and anyone buying or using a caravan is helping the local economy by spending in this country, not mentioning helping the companies stay in business.
So the choice of out with the van, or lie on a boring beach all day, I think I know which I would choose

Okay... I have two questions.
1. When you come to Scotland are you coming by Edinburgh?
and
2. Do you rent out your carvan?!
I am a subpostmistress/shopkeeper in a sleepy little village. My shop is open 7 days a week, 364 days a year and I run it on my own with help/hindrance from my hubby and eldest son when they're not at work/school. I can't afford to employ help, so we don't go away. Before we lived here, we didn't really go on holiday anyway, although we enjoyed the few camping trips we did. When we give this life up, we may join a sunclub and have a semi-permanent pitch for the season, or else buy a big trailer tent. I like camping but prefer to be able to cook nutritious meals for my family. If I'm going to be able to do that, a substantial investment will be required in equipment. Roll on summer 2010!

Yes its so unlike 777 to make a sweeping generalisation like that isn't it ;-) ...
I often get held up by cars on single carriageways as its they who cannot drive sensibly and maintain a steady pace as on single carriageways caravans are restricted to 50mph even if the road is covered by the national speed limit...

Sweeping statement? I thought it was an accurate assessment meself.
I too also thought caravans could only do 50mph. I have seen them poodling along on dual carriageways at 40mph on a 60 road.
Yes people are impatient but....lets be fair here, when your stuck behind a slow moving vehicle for mile after mile, it is only natural to get pissed off.
I still stand by my opinion that they are a bloody menace.

Probably less of a menace than a motorbike doing 0 to 70 mph in two seconds though! wink

And no Kent, I dont mean you, cause you know I would tell you if I did
We love caravaning and have enjoyed it for years
If there is a queue behind we pull in the let them past
The caravan has all the home comforts we need and rather than spend a bucket full of money for a couple of weeks in the sun we have 6 weeks away and numerous weekends for a fraction of the cost
As for Sh, we have had some great times away with fellow members and are looking forward to a week in July with two other couples this year. The highlight will be seeing one of them deflate an air bed! (inhouse joke)
At the end of the day its your money and you make your choice
We bought our first caravan last year liked it so much we are saving for a better one get away as often as we can with and without other members off this are looking forward to the summer and our little the caravan we had a tent which was also fun but rather have the caravan now.

You beat me to it smile I was looking for that post.
My caravan and VW camper van will be on the road doing a legal speed if bikers will allow me to.
