Are the threads getting worse?

Sorry all but this is a winge,i don't do it often so i'm allowed.
I know that ive been known to do the odd stupid post,that includes when i was part of ClarenSteve (oh the memories),but generally my posts have thought and sometimes emotion to them.
The standard of posting lately has dropped,and has been noticed by quite a few people,but over the past few days it has reached new i'm not talking about all the threats put on,some are really funny and thought provoking but a lot have been really quite poor.
Sorry to winge on,but it would be nice if more people put effort into their it'd be nice to see some threads from some people out there that only ever join in other threads.
Right i'm done,i'm knackered and now i'll withdraw and wait for everyone to explode.

it would be nice if more people put effort into their it'd be nice to see some threads from some people out there that only ever join in other threads.

Quality not quantity is something that has been tried for years since automation began in the industrial revolution. Sometime you can have a great post with diddly squat replies, and then you post a crappy type post and it goes onto 8+ pages....
People are funny, and some like to join in conversations rather than start them. Unfortunately that is how it is. Maybe you should rest, join in a few others, and recharge the idea's batteries...? just a thought...... :idea:

I must admit I had a big smile on my face thinking about 230 posts in 7 days from Steve hhehehehehehe.
Seriously though .... I can see where you are coming from Steve but surely all posts make the board what it is and those that are bad drop like stones anyway??? I can't say that all my posts are of the highest quality, but I post because it means something to me at the time ~ just as I imagine other people feel also.
if we only had well thought out, serious, meaningful posts all the time then surely we'd all be elsewhere????

Steve I put a thread up about threads other night then took it off in the morning. Think there seems to be so many started as short chats at the moment that just end up between 2 sets of people but hey maybe thats what people want!!!! rolleyes

. I loved Wilmas and always love Sarge because they are funny. There are many repeats at the moment bit like TV I suppose (no not you Judy TV !!). If people go back they can revive a thread and there were some great ones and there will be again!!!!! Best way I find is like any conversation join the ones you are interested in contributing to and just watch the others at a distance :)

Yes, lots of threads are downright STUPID, some are downright FUNNY and some are downright AWFUL Have a read of the old threads which really need revived so you can see just how awful and stupid the threads have become recently.
However, the threads only reflect the people posting. Maybe it's worth thinking about why lots and lots of regulars AREN'T posting?
I never stop posting though. lol

It would be so great if everyone clammered for the chance to reply to your every posting. Being popular and well liked, and respected is so in the real world too, where we live our normalities. It is good to have the odd daftness, but sometimes the more serious veins get entangled in peoples hijacks, where they drop in for a quote, and before you know it the point has been lost? Maybe it could be stickied once a night and then cleared first thing, where all the daftness can be brought to one place aka the masquerade ball idea. Therefore freeing up those posting with some open questions, and those with the down right daftness we all avoid will fall off the bottom of the screen faster? Just a thought. confused

I would offer the point that Jags means far from it dear friend. in essensce she is defending the fact that it has just become a bit manic with no real reference to anyone new or old.

I think sometimes new blood to any forum can offer a great input, but sometimes it acts the adverse. However it is not a finget pointing quote, just one saying what is a possible reason for more familiar faces so to speak not being about? I am sure you will have read some of the past 100+pages, and seen it can be quite good on here at times, but again, it can be a bit low. But hey that is what makes it sort of different?

Thats the kind of thread that is down right daft,but hilarious!!
I can see where Steve is coming from to a point.I think like any where else there are gonna be good threads and there are gonna be bad one.
But i must admit that lately there have been a few repetitive ones,a few that not a lot of thought has gone into and just been copied straight from the net.
Im not talking about replies here but the origional posts themselves.

I don't think that's what is being said at all, just commenting on a time when there were some very funny or thought provoking threads happening on here, there still are, just not in such abundance.

There's a search engine so, if for instance, someone new thinks, 'I know, I bet they've never discussed shaving on here' It just might be worth checking it through the search function and note that it has been done to death in recent history.
Of course topics are going to come round again and as there are new members all the time new perspectives will be added. It's when they appear over and over, every other day, people start sarcastic posting or talking bollocks on the thread. Newbies see that and think that that is the preferred option for the forum and so the type of thread posting changes.
Social dynamics, I think I'm on about the 4th cycle so far.
It does put some people off posting though, it will change again and again and again though. lol

The wheel of life meand that many pop into the forum and bring with them quotes and topics that to them are new and exciting to talk about. So much is discussed on here it is difficult to be sure what is not a repeat at times, and sometimes a subject will reappear and be just as good! just like old jokes, some still make you laugh, whilst others make you cry....

Right folks,time to set a few things straight.
Like my wife Clare put,its the threads,not the replies i'm on about,we all talk shite when we reply to certain quality of the thread is my issue,i'm not talking about wanting all threads to be thought provoking or perfect (i love a funny or stupid thread ie Bilko's),just a bit of thought to go into the original thread.
I'm not getting at anyone in particular,and haven't singled out anyone in my original post.
Yes i admit ive posted a shit load in the last 8 days but if you look back and see how many threads ive started its not all that a lot has been replies to other threads that interest me.
I hope thats cleared up a few points for some of you.

I agree with your comments, it is just difficult to cultivate a thread with the intention of getting it answered in depth. I think most posters would like to have it become one of the immortal posts, but you can never really tell/? I mean look at Adam and Eve, if it was NOT for that apple episode, life would be a bit more for us all to smile about would it not? The idea seemed sound in the first place, but further down the road, it went a bit pear-shaped!

I must admit that I have spent hours and hours reading through old threads (some are just so damn funny) but I do like to see new ones started even if on similar subjects. Main reason is because some of the older threads had become so long, some of those who contributed no longer post and its good to see new thoughts on old subjects.
*maybe* new threads (even on old subjects) do encourage new peeps to post and make friends here (I have). Although, I do understand that it can become tiring for those who had seen it, done it, and bought the company smile

At the end of the day, I personally enjoy coming in here (even if Im not part of the *lifestyle*) and don't mind the repetivie threads (can only talk for me not anyone else). I like to read everyones contribution even if I dont make a comment (Im a bit shy you see :) and a nosy tyke with it lol). An every one is soooooo nice and friendly...... biggrin

Gonna shut up now Im waffling....... again!
