Yesterday was a lovely bright day down south, I could feel spring in the air, with today looking warmer, just makes me feel it is almost here.
The bulbs are shooting the gardens are coming alive.
I get a great urge to have a good clear out, everything that is not worth keeping get cleared out.
I always feel spring is the start of a new year.
Might be that I was born in spring.
What season do you like?
I think you are right Minxy.
Here in the Charente region of France, there is a local phenomena signalling the end of summer and the beginning of spring; tens of thousands of cranes in the sky and they pass over the same places every year, southbound for the winter and northbound for the summer.
In the past few days we have had flocks filling the skies in perfect chevron formation with incredible noise from their calls. The local French farmers say that this truly signals the beginning of spring.

Wow what a sight that must be.
One year in Eastbourne I witnessed the Swifts gathering that was such a sight, the skies were fall and they were swirling above and gathering at the end of the pier.
Swifts I believe have the longest journey to migration of all the birds they travel to Southern Africa.
The wonders of nature, and what it can tell us, if only we took time to notice.
I hope so! I love Spring the best :bounce:

You might feel it up north today.
Warmer down south, and bright today.
i heard my first blackbird morning song of the year last week and it certainly brought a smile to my face, my honeysuckle is showing signs of life again, the world is waking up from its sleep and starting to bring new life
i love the rebirth of the land that springtime brings
E x
Sun is out here as are the snowdrops, daff starting to grow, windows are open, and from what I can just hear the birds are singing, and the fish in the pond seem ok from all the snow and ice.
:bounce:

cranes on their way North yesterday over the Charente.
Folk lore has it that if the cranes (les Grues) fly low northbound in the spring, it is a sign that the wheat will grow on short stems indicating low rain fall in the summer - a hot and sunny summer due!
Blimey could the french make that folk saying any more complex????

It's easier to say it in French believe it or not :giggle:
So I take it, commenting on the likelihood of a nice summer observing the grues yer average frenchman will not be inclined to say:
Si les grues pilotent bas allant vers le nord au printemps, c'est un signe que le blé se développera sur les tiges courtes indiquant la basse chute de pluie en été - un été chaud et ensoleillé dû.
Dont trip off the tongue I agree.
Id love the french version I would like to drop it into conversations to maintain the myth that I am edumacated.
