Gather round are we all sitting comfy then I shall begin
It’s dark here in the woods with only the light from the fire
So would anyone like to tell a Ghost story or share a scary true story that has happened to you or someone you know.
I'll begin with an Urban Legend called Bloody Mary
It works by Chanting "Bloody Mary!" thirteen times in front of a candlelit mirror in an otherwise dark room will summon her vengeful spirit.
The Story: Go into a room with a mirror and turn all the lights off. Bathrooms seem to be perfect for this since they almost always have a mirror and are usually dark at night with the lights off and the door closed. Light a candle, look into the mirror, and start chanting “Bloody Mary”. You have to do this 13 times, of course. You should see Bloody Mary behind your left shoulder after the thirteenth time.
Beware, she has been reported to 1.) Kill the person calling her, 2.) Scratch their eyes out, 3.) Drive the person mad or 4.) Pull the person into the mirror with her. This is an old legend, it has been around for ages.
I did this once when I was in school and it scared the sh*t out of me and every one else there. It was after during a lunch hour and we went into the girls changing room we had the lights on and I stood in front of the mirror said Bloody Mary loads of times then the lights went out they flickered red then it went dark everyone ran out I bumped into something on the way out and don’t know what it was because there was nothing in the way. It still scares me just thinking about it.

 Many years ago (when I was 20ish) I was stopping at a friends house, it was a 400 yr old farmhouse, with a lot of 'dubious' history- I was at a time of life where I was emotionally charged and a little 'upset'. We'd gone to bed late, been up chatting with his mum- trying to sort me out (full picture- in three days time I was heading to the Falklands- scared shitless, but full of youthful bravado).
I drifted off into a half-sleep to be awoken by the creek of the bedroom door and the sensation of someone sitting on the edge of the bed, thinking it was my mates mum, or his sister , I spoke to them- no answer,- I reached out- felt a cold clamminess envelop my hand- I instintively drew back and put the bedside lamp on---
-no-one there.
Still put the willies up when I think about it, the house was reputedly haunted, by a woman that lived there previously- and Im sure she wanted to comfort me in my time of need.
Bloody Mary, remember it well!
I was in the girls toilets at school (in the cubicle), when I heard a group of girls come in and do the Bloody Mary thing. I heard them scream and run off too, leaving me all on my lonesome.
I just sat there, knickers round ankles, sh*t scared at what would confront me if I left the cubicle!!
Least I was already sat on the toilet! rotflmao

well my story is really an example of how your mind can play games. Had watched a horror movie where blood and stuff all ran down the walls of this house at exactly 3am every morning. Was quite scarey. Anyway I went to bed and sleep. I woke up suddendly for no reason in the night rubbed my eyes and looked across at the clock..it was ........I sat there looking at the walls just waiting for something to happen.
Needless to say nothing did, did sure as hell scare me thou !!!
When i was at secondary school we were told our maths block was haunted. One day we decided to have a to see if we could call anyone, needless to say after standing round in a cirle holding hands with my friend in the middle calling her grandmas name she ran out of the room crying saying her gran spoke to her. Another time at halloween we draw graveyard pics on the blackboard then rubbed them out, turning the board over so the pic faced the wall there was a imprint of the pic on the reverse side of the board. I love spooky stories.

We once watched that with subtitles on and no word of a lie ... "Farting noises" was once of the scene descriptions on .... We were howling with laughter.
I'll write my story in a bit ;)
Blazing Saddles is great. I watched it again recently and it's still hilarious. And how sexy is Madelaine Kahn?

Can see a bit of thread hi-jacking going on here
Scarey stories
My wife and I have started watching these Most Haunted programmes on Living TV. I'm still not convinced about the medium Derek but some of the things he comes out with does make me think there might be something to it. Personally I don't think I've ever seen a ghost but I'm always hopeful of things going bumpin the night.......... or grind.......or in and out ! wink
Molly and Chris,
Is the fact that you started this thread at am (SH Time) an indication of how scary you find the Bloody Mary idea? You couldn't do it at midnight last night could you ?? lol
I've got to say that I don't think I'd try it and I'm one of the least superstitious people around.

Too true.....too true
There's no such thing as threadjacking... it's a fact of life that the ends of threads normally bear no resemblance to the beginning of threads. And that is a good thing... let topics ramble and range...
ooo..this is all scary stuff! But good stuff all the same biggrin :scared:
Yeah, right! VERY Candyman!!!
cool
Still, I've heard a lot of scary stories about Ouiji Boards ... no way would I go anywhere near one of those things ...
This is a true story...how do I know ???? You will see.
Some time in the early 1920's one stormy night three young sisters of around eight years old are getting ready for bed in their bedroom . One of them noticed the figure of their Mother sitting in a bedside chair, the other two sisters also observed her presence in the chair, which was strange as she had died several years previous . Somewhat phased but not scared by the experience they went to relate the events to their father. Somewhat sceptical but still compassionate he allowed them to sleep with him that evening . That same evening the roof collapsed on to the very bed the girls would have been sleeping in. The girls all believed their mother was there to protect them .
Why do I believe this story to be true .....one of the 3 sisters was my mother and I had the story confirmed by my two aunts .
