I agree with anais. It is difficult. I do try and respond but most times this does then seem to snowball into further correspondance.
I know what you mean though. It is polite.
Maybe Dark_side's 'thanks but no thanks' response could work?
If there was a "Thanks but no thanks button" then the sender would be mailed straight back with the buttons that have already been installed for the rejected person.
Number one responds with "Why?"
Number two responds with "Well I was only doing you a favour"
Number three responds with "But you are fat, you should be grateful"
Number four responds with "Was it my picture that put you off? I'll send one with my clothes on this time"
Number five responds with "F*** off you w******s. Do you think you are so special to reject me. You should be grateful that I even replied to your sad advert you t*****r"

To us this site is useful when we are looking for a non personal bit of fun. It is a place we go 'fishing' when we need a fix. This particular ocean that we fish in appears to have many fish in it but unfortunately not all the fish are as they appear to be, so we fish in a very industrial way and this seems to work for us. We go to Cap d'Agde for our holidays and if we politely replied and responded to every single male that approached us on the beach then we would have to stay there a year just to get a weeks worth of polite apologies in.
It may seem harsh, but we place ads and wait for responses - we reply to ones we like and discard the rest.
We think that anyone who takes a site like this so seriously that they become offended if they don't get a reply should perhaps question their motives for being here.
Just our opinion.
Think it depends what you send, if its a full message we reply but if its a wink we dont bother.
I can see relevance to all the points above but just wonder whether there's some way to acknowledge, especially if someone is new.
We've not had any problem 'fishing', and we're no oil paintings, nor are we scary, I think, lol
I can imagine that some new people might not be as confident as others.
Anyway, whatever anyone suggested, there would always be someone else who thought it wasn't necessary, so wadda ya do?

we say on our profile that we can`t play weekdays,, but we still get them saying :[im in london on monday how about a meet} if only they read profiles n see what peeps r looking for. fed up keep repeating ourselves......

Exactly - it wears a bit thin to get stupid cut and paste replies where the person has made no effort whatsoever to read your ad and profile. In the end I suppose we have just developed a cynical attitude - but that is just us.
Even after having a lot of responses to ads, it does take some time on occasions though. We don't reply to any follow up mail if we have declined any further communication, that just gets deleted, we don't even get to see the "so what makes you so special you w*****s" mails if they come in. What you don't see don't piss you off
