I may have missed an answer to this somewhere so I'll apologise in advance.
When I leave the pc for a few minutes or so, I'm logged out of this site. It seems that the site bumps you after a period of inactivity. Is this right or is it just me having the problem?

I get it too.... smile
yep we get the same thing as well , its only happened sinse the site changed ownership, but its no big deal we just log back in and bingo :P :P
Yes it is a "auto log out" after about 10mins I think.
It is a bugger when you try and write a long post only to find you are logged out when you try and post. (brevety is the way lol)
I have tried looking for the answer in the glitches thread but can not spot it.

I think its set to 24 minutes of inactivity.

mrs davej has me on a similar system, I don't get logged out as such, but do end up with a paint brush, screw driver or other similar type item thrust in my face.
I get logged out too, a tick to "keep me logged in" would be a nice addition, if it can be done, leave users with a choice.

Auto-log out? Good idea and am all for it, all forum sites should do it no matter what the forum subject especially with the use of permanently connected Broadband links these days. I'm sure theres some members would'nt want some of the more younger people in their house logging on!!! Plus it helps to keep the site bandwidth charges down and in turn hopefully those of the users.
I guess it could be annoying for those out there living on there own mind so maybe an optout could be provided?
I think anything between 15 to 30 mins is ok, plus an immediate log out on closing the browser.
As for time taken to write posts, why not do it in word, spell check and then cut 'n' paste? Saves getting logged out halfway thru on a long whing!!!
Ok thats my tenpence worth for what its worth

Good idea, Simple, and it would give the user a chance to write either a post or a reply without losing it if the phone rings or someone comes to the door and you end up chatting for ten or fifteen minutes and get back to see your almost full written reply "Burnt".
I can see the reason for auto logging out if there is no activity but surely 30 minutes or an hour could be allowed.

lol Tut tut Judy.

Just noticed that the "auto-logout" works when you spend time in the chat room.
When you leave the chat room you have to log back into the site.
Me being me and still having grey cells left in my cranium I stop and wonder why.
You are logged into the site so why the necessity to log back in ?
Yes OK I know because the chat room is on a different server.
Educate me PLEASE>>>>>
