i dont know if this has been done before, so slap me with a kipper cos the search button wont be my mate today! lol

new people using the same avatars as existing members!

i can not be the only one who recognises the pic and does not even bother to read the name on a post.
i have lost count of the number of times i have clicked on "pm this member" before realising its not who i think.

I think this is more of an issue where existing members picked from the default avatars, then got hooked on them. Or where they are using standard ones from the net somewhere, and people stumble across the same one.
I think the personalised avatars should be safe. Especially where it is your own pic, anyone abusing it deserves serious mod attention ;)

Yes that happened to me which is why I changed my avatar to this one - people I knew were thinking the new person was me, which is confusing.
Is there any way this could be checked out when people join, I wonder?
Probably be too difficult - I guess the only way to make sure nobody steals your avatar is by having a photo, but that's WAY too dodgy for some of us!

If anyone ever takes my Avatar then just ask them to prove its them I know I can fgs I flash them enough and I am sure all them that have met me can reconise me instantly from it

A good friend gave us ours for a little pressie, but i dont think it can be mistaken for anything else, or anyone else.
But, i can see how similar avatars could cause confusion. biggrin
