So its 20 years on since the original can they pull it off this time to the same extent?

Shoot me now.
The first one was ok at the time. This one will just consist of z list music people who have probably never even held a musical instrument or, for that matter, ever held a pen with which to write a song.
OK, it's late, and I'm doing my cynical old bastard routine smile
It's a mixed bag. I don't think any of these artists fit that description:
# Chris Martin
# Sir Paul McCartney (bass guitar)
# Bob Geldof
# Midge Ure
# Radiohead
# Bono
# The Thrills
# Beverley Knight
# Damon Albarn
# The Divine Comedy
Less sure about some of the others though :
# Robbie Williams
# Daniel Bedingfield (can someone please explain to me what he's for ? Other than rapidly becoming the fattest man in pop confused)
# Natasha Bedingfield
# Will Young
# Busted
# Dizzee Rascal
# Sugababes
# Rachel Stevens
# Estelle
Lordy. A lot of them should be shot. Paul McCartney should be shot twice. lol
Well at least it can't possibly be worse than the 2nd Band Aid recording... Bros and Stock, Aitken, Waterman anyone?
Youd think the amount of new artists etc in the nad theyd be able to come up with a new band aid song!! I mean ffs?? confused
Pudsey would be much funnier in bondage that in a bandage biggrin

JAGS SLAP!

I heard the new band aid single today and it's not a patch on the first, or the second really, some guy starts a rap in the middle of someone singing and I did'nt recognise half of the voices. When the original was done, look how many of those artists are still around now; sting, George Michael, U2... and I wonder how many of the artists on the new one will be around in 20 years time................ I must be old............
Band Aid will never seem the same with out an irrate Sir Bob screaming "give us your money now, these people are starving"
I'd rather buy the dvd and relive it properly.
G. x ~~~feeling really rather old today.......

yes, the 2nd was a few years later, the same song but with a different line-up
The original Band Aid included loads of established stars doing it just because they wanted to - they didn't need the publicity, although admittedly there were a few obscure up-and-comers and has-beens looking for a kickstart. Ditto with the Live Aid concerts.
Maybe it's just because I'm 20 years older, but the sequel seems to consist more of the obscure than the established, and being the cynic I am, and using "compassion fatigue" as an excuse, I won't be supporting this one.

Totally agree with on all your points there! Charity records have been done to death,Band Aid 1984 was the first and still the best they sung that song with heart the new one doesn't seem to have that!
 Hmmm- are the Tweenies on it??- Cos it bludy sounds like it! I may be an old fart now- but it aint a patch on the first.
